This isn't regarding a podcast, but a player. I assume some of you don't have iPhones, what podcast player in your experience works best? I have a friend on an Android who like me does a ton of driving. He's interested in podcasts but doesn't have the helpful purple icon that comes with Apple products. Any recommendations?

He may want to check out the Stitcher app - play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stitcher.app . Some podcasts, like WTF with Maron and This American life, have their own app for listening to episodes.

Last night I discovered The Great Divide, a podcast devoted to one of the greatest bands the UK ever produced - yes, Big Country. It would seem to go into all the detail you could wish for over its (so far) 60+ episodes. I say 'it would seem to' because all of the episodes I tried to listen to lasted about two minutes before they mysteriously started over from the beginning. We'll get there, though.

I use podkicker pro because it sequesters the episodes away from the phone's general files, also it has pretty good search capabilities and sensibly ads new features like Chromecasting. Although I just recently noticed that there's now a podcast section on Google Play Music (the orange triangle icon).

the Chapo Trap House podcast is keeping me from blowing my brains out in the post-Trump world, so anybody who's as angry and alienated as I am should check em out

I know some folk won't be able to get past John Oliver's absence but I've enjoyed the rotating cast of co-hosts so far.

I'm able to download episodes, and it will play while I'm using other apps, so I can play games while listening. My phone doesn't have a media player, though, which sorta bugs me. I'm going to have to download one soon, for the podcasts that I have to download manually.

So I've finally found a podcast that I like - it's "History Respawned", ( www.historyrespawned.com/) which has historians talking about the portrayal of history in video games. The best one is about Far Cry Primal - they actually have as guests the linguists who created the Proto-Indo-European languages for the game, so the conversation ranges around from actual linguistics to portrayals of cavemen in popular culture.

I will happily take on that request! So obviously there's MBMBAM - all three brothers doing a comedy "advice" show, with lots of riffing and goofing and some actual advice. Kind of. The Adventure Zone - All three brothers and their dad play D&D. Hilarity ensues. Sawbones - Justin and his wife Sydnee, who is a doctor, discuss medical history. Basically, Sydnee teaches Justin about historical treatments. Bunker Buddies - Travis and his friend Andi talk about various aspects of post-apocalypse living, like designer bunkers, meal replacements, and zombie fighting. I really dislike Andi so I gave up on this one quickly. Can I Pet Your Dog? - I've never listened to this one, but it involves Travis. It's about dogs. Shmanners - It's basically Sawbones, but about etiquette instead and with Travis and his wife, Theresa. Still Buffering - This show involves none of the brothers, but is amazing. Justin's wife Sydnee and her two sisters, one of them a teenager, discuss how to teen. Quality Control - Griffin and his friend Nick discuss video games Cool Games, Inc - Griffin and Nick make up insane video games based on listener suggestions. It's fucking hilarious and one of my favorites. Trends Like These - Travis and his friend Brent talk about trending topics on the Internet, often politically oriented. Rose Buddies - Griffin and his wife Rachel discuss The Bachelor and other related TV shows. I've never seen a single episode of The Bachelor or other related shows but I love this podcast. Griffin and Rachel are my relationship goals. Interrobang - Travis and his friend Tybee talk about things that are making them frustrated. Sometimes it's political, sometimes it's personal, sometimes it's completely silly. They have a focus on compassion. It's pretty good! Til Death Do Us Blart - This podcast happens only once a year at Thanksgiving. Griffin, Justin, and Travis join three dudes from another podcast to watch and discuss Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2. Video offshoots: Things I Bought at Sheetz - Justin and his friend Dwayne consume and discus things bought at the gas station chain Sheetz Griffin's Amiibo Corner - Griffin puts stuff in his mouth Monster Factory - One of the best things ever. Justin and Griffin use character creation screens in video games to design monstrosities, then play those games. Car Boys - Griffin and Nick (from Cool Games Inc) play a car game and crash things a lot. Just to add to your excellent list, Besties, the Polygon gaming podcast with Griffin and Justin, along with their friends Russ and Chris, is back and is being released on a monthly basis.

So, who's watched the MBMBAM show? Real talk: do I have to pay for Seeso? There's a free trial thingie: are all the episodes available to watch within that trial period? Because I am broke as fuck, and also it's my birthday so I deserve to have them.

And signing up for it will still help Seeso see that people are excited for the show, even if you don't keep the subscription!

So, who's watched the MBMBAM show? I was all pumped to watch it this week because my wife is in Germany visiting her sister and those good, good TV boys seemed like an excellent cure for loneliness, but then I realized she took our iPad with her and I didn't really want to binge watch on my phone I did watch the preview episode on youtube though and it was excellent.

The blatant abuse of cars meant for children? Also, who would have guessed that GRIFFIN was the one you wanted to follow when establishing post-apocalyptic fiefdoms?

Those of you who just signed up to Seeso for MBMBAM should also be sure to check out Jonah Ray's Hidden America.
I watched all of MBMBAM in the past 48 hours -- I didn't watch the YouTube posted ep, so I started at Ep. 1. I think Ep. 1 (the Ghoulsmashers) was probably the roughest of the lot and left me feeling pretty skeptical. But I think they definitely improved.
The brothers' screen presence is still a little unpolished in a way that (for me) vacillated between charming and cringy. Compared to the other Seeso originals made by seasoned TV producers and performers, MBMBAM felt like it was somewhere between a YouTube series and "real TV." Personally, I kind of thought some of the animated segments played a lot better (just like the great MBMBAM fan animations on YouTube), and almost wished for a show of all animated segments in different styles.
But I was definitely hooked by Ep. 3. I'm very skeptical that people who aren't already McElroy fans would get into it -- I suspect that balance of charmingly verite vs. cringingly unpolished would not turn out as well for a non-fan. But I'm hoping for the best for them.
ETA: I'd definitely watch an entire show made up of segments like this:

You're right there, though I loved everything LMM in it. But I've been listening since the beginning so the culmination of it all was really touching to me, making up for the lack of goofs.

I met a My Brother, My Brother, and Me fan in the wild, which had never happened to me before! I went to a movie with Ifwewait, his brother, and his brother's new girlfriend. During a preview, I leaned over and said the preview was so bad and embarrassing that my skeleton left my body. After the movie, she asked "do you listen to MBMBAM, by any chance?", because that's a Griffin expression. She and Iffy and I ended up talking about the McElroys for like half an hour.
Her favorite brother is Griffin, so all is right with the world.
