What if there are multiple rebel teams trying to steal the Death Star plans, and this one fails? Or maybe this one is a diversion for the real mission?
And also, perhaps most importantly, is this a good time to put all of my pre-Special Edition Star Wars memorabilia on ebay?

I'm actually a lot more excited to see this than I was Episode VII. The previews for Force Awakens kind of made it look like Star Wars' Greatest Hits, which it kind of was. Don't get me wrong, it was a fine movie, but this one seems like it's doing something entirely different with the property which is cool.

That girl is not a Bothan, so she better not be stealing any Death Star plans. I can't tell if this is pedant bait or not, but, given as how I have no self control: Many Bothans died for the second Death Star plans, not the first. OH you're right. I feel much better now.

I can dig most of this. The U-wing looks like an Ugly starfighter, which is a brilliant addition to early Rebel forces, in my opinion. The TIE is neat, an odd missing link between prequel fighter designs (ie the Eta-2 and a little V-wing) and perhaps the TIE Interceptor. Thr charactee descriptions, as rough as they are, excite me, especially the droid's origins and motivation. I'm once again findimg my delight with this concept stoked to new, blazing heights.

I like the idea of an ugly-but-practical looking starfighter, and how it looks modular with the others—seems like both would be an advantage.

Ok, so my love of Ben Mendelsohn increases every day. Bless him for showing up to that event wearing that costume including his kick-ass white cape. He looks AMAZING in that Imperial costume. Even if the movie turns out to be complete garbage, I might want a poster of Mendelsohn in that costume. No doubt that I will end up with a photo of him from this film as a desktop background sometime this year.

New trailer is up. I have officially hit peak excitement for this.

I thought the trailer was very good, but I'm going to do my best to keep my expectations grounded for this. I was seven years old the last time a movie came out set in this period, and I'm not sure it's possible for anything to compete with that.

With some of the toy leaks and the like, I have a new expected favorite character, Moroff:

sarapen As a person who doesn't believe in artificial intelligence...that discussion was way too short. It's still ongoing, jeez. I assume K4 is, like me, whiling time away at work on the Friday before the Labour Day weekend. Nevertheless, our exchange must still be interrupted by a pretense of labour at our bullshit jobs.

White supremacists are lambasting the film as "a Jew masturbation fantasy of anti-white hatred," and calling for a boycott.
My sane roommate has lost faith due to the amount of reshoots.

Now they're saying reshoots added scenes calling Donald Trump a racist. Chris Weitz denies this outright, which of course the conspiracy theorists now cite as proof that it's true.
This is gonna be one weird Star Wars movie.

Got my tickets for Thursday night. Just doing my part to support the mongrel horde and well-known Jew sympathizer, Walt Disney.

I'm going to be waiting until after Christmas to see it so that I can see it on a proper screen in Vancouver while we're at my parents, instead of on the shitty postage-stamp-sized screens here in town that I saw Force Awakens on. It'll be a long week.

Yeah I liked this. First time since 2002 that we had a Star Trek and a Star Wars movie the same year, only this year they were both good. Although Stuart Baird was one of the editors on Rogue One so small world. A nice nod or two to Rebels, too. Namely, General Syndulla is paged on the com - most likely Hera Syndulla, although it is possibly her father. We also see a Hammerhead Corvette, which plays a critical role when it rams an Imperial Star Destroyer - Leia acquired three for the rebellion in the episode of Rebels she appeared on. And every couple of minutes the movie is like that - riddled with references to the era it is set in. Gareth Edwards was given the chance to play in the OT era and he just has to use all the toys. Still, even sagging from prequelism a bit, the movie soars, and the brutality of the ending in its desperate defiance winds up seeming hopeful. (I wonder how kids are going to take this, though.)

Although Stuart Baird was one of the editors on Rogue One so small world. A nice nod or two to Rebels, too. My friend just got back from it. She said she liked it. I texted her: "Do they all die or do just *most* of them die?" LOL marketing, trying to make people think this is in question. She had a similar comment to yours about the ending. How was Ben Mendelsohn as the villain? Is his white cape as awesome as the trailer makes it look?

Desert Dweller He was fine, though a little perfunctory. He'/ there to have an Imperial villain who's fate can't be dictated by the events of A New Hope.
