Ewoks scared the shit out of me when I was a child. Their faces freaked me out. Porgs are furry penguins. I don't fear that. I've seen that combination of furriness and wings only once before. It didn't scare me enough then. It does now.

I'll reserve judgement. They look like they were designed specifically for merch though. "Oh, and they have to have big eyes! Puppy dog eyes! That'll move product!" To be fair, wasn't BB-8 designed to sell shit too? And that droid was fucking adorable. True. BB-8 never bugged me. There's just something about Porgs that scream "Focus Group Tested" to me.

R2-D2 > Ewoks
hence
Nu-R2-D2 > Nu-Ewoks

I mean I owned a goddamn Bossk action figure back in the day for crying out loud. Dude was literally on screen for like 8 seconds.

It saddens me there are people who don't appreciate Porgs. Porg forgive you lost sheep.

So this probably isn't a fresh hot take but in the trailer there's the whole part where Luke says "I've only seen this raw strength once before and I didn't fear it enough, blah, blah, blah". I feel like most people are assuming it's a reference to Kylo Ren, but I'm wondering if he's not talking about himself.

It could be misdirection, but considering that line was spoken over a scene of him bursting out of a ruined wooden building and huddling with R2, I'm gonna assume that's part of the Kylo and Knights of Ren scene from TFA, and it's Kylo.

I midnighted it, it's better than TFA and definitely has rian Johnson's touch but holy hell it's long. it reaches a climax then keeps going for like 40 minutes. it doesn't feel like the middle part of a trilogy and I imagine there will be a significant timeskip in episode 9

I don't know why people made such a big deal about porgs when the clear "animal" superstars of the movie were the crystal wolves.

Their episode of predictions for what nuggets will be shoehorned into the Han Solo movie is the only reason I want to see the Han Solo movie. Late to the party because I was avoiding everything to do with TLJ until I saw it, but the only reason I want to see Don Glover's Lando Calrissian movie, featuring Han Solo is because that.

BB-8 is the James Corden of the franchise. I don't care how amazeballs they make him seem, he's never going to replace Craig R2.

What is remarkable about that story is that reps of Rotten Tomatoes say they don't believe bots are responsible for the massive disparity in user vs critical reviews. I'm saying I saw the movie on a Wednesday night, 5 days after release, and it got massive applause from the crowd. I've seen it three times, at three different theatres. It has gotten loud applause all three times.

The Cinemascore for Last Jedi is an A, so I trust that a lot more as reflective of the opinions of the audience.

I finally got to see it today and I enjoyed it greatly. Honestly, I don't really understand the OTT gnashing of teeth by some people about it, and the more they complain about how it didn't cater exactly to their specific hopes and wants, the more I want to shove them into a locker.
