I've been spreading random posts about this around for quite a while, so rather than keep spamming the Tabletop Games thread, I figured I'd post it all here so it can be ignored better. We started this sci-fi campaign back in November 2016, played two sessions, then had to take a five-month hiatus because one player got a new job and was working on our prior game day, and I had my Oracle class two nights a week on the only other days that we could all get together. Now that that's done, we are playing every two weeks during the summer before scheduling conflicts again.
I'll post the recaps of the first four sessions first.

SESSION ONE RECAP - November 6th, 2016 THE PARTY: Joshua Wytov - Expert pilot and navigator. Warren Mason - Psychic (telepathy) negotiator. Chie Maki - Psychic (biopsionics) healer/researcher. Arden Perry - Warrior, security officer and former space marine. SABOTAGE! The party is a crew for Bowman Multistellar, a seafood shipping company based on Seabreeze City on Kolar III. Their ship is the Solar Flame, formerly the personal ship of Thormod Bowman, the company’s CEO. They are assigned to make a rush shipment of seafood to Honda Station in the neighboring Fuji Gamma system. Upon exiting their jump, there is an explosion onboard and two fighters circle the ship. The fighters greet the crew with “Welcome to Fuji Gamma! Please prepare to be boarded.” Joshua responds, “Please transmit your identification codes.” The pirates (obvious now) said “I don’t think we’re going to do that.” Thinking quickly, Joshua cuts the comms, activates the ship’s distress beacon, and he and Arden open fire, making quick work of the fighters, but taking a hit in the process. As soon as the fighters are destroyed, the other freighter jumps away toward Honda Station. Joshua receives a response from Honda Station to the distress call, and notifies them of the attack and the fleeing freighter. The crew assesses the damage, and find evidence of sabotage in the engine compartment. They are able to jury-rig the engines in order to keep the ship going at half-speed for two hours, then full speed for the remaining four hours. They arrive and meet with Miss Yamasaki, but three other men are there - Edward Lloyd and two of his crew - claiming that they were the ones delivering the seafood shipment. The crew recognize Lloyd as an employee of Cook Enterprises, and immediately deduce that the pirate attack was an attempt to delay them so they could deliver the goods instead. Fortunately Joshua’s distress beacon resulted in the would-be pirates being detained. After a brief wait to confirm the party’s story, Miss Yamasaki orders Lloyd and his men arrested for piracy. The party kills time in the shopping quarter (and hookah bar for Joshua) while their ship is unloaded and repaired, and then they head back home. DISAPPEARANCE! Upon their return, Thormod tells them his son, Thad, is missing, and presumably has been kidnapped! The crew begins an investigation to find him. In Thad’s room, some belongings are missing, including his compad. The party splits up to track him down. Events (possibly out of order): Chie and Joshua check the Bowman security system and find video of Lloyd sneaking onto their ship. Chie purchases a security camera system for the Solar Flame. They also manage to hack the comm system to activate the tracking device on Thad’s compad, which appears to be in the Below Decks - industrial and maintenance tunnels of the city. Warren and Arden track down some of Thad’s friends at a local arcade, and from their tips, find video surveillance footage of him meeting with a strange man in a black and red patterned shirt. One of Bowman’s guards, Akintola, asks Chie to meet him, claiming he has information about Thad’s disappearance. Joshua shadows her, and stops Akintola’s (admittedly terrible) ambush attempt with a well-placed shot in the back. The party regroups at their ship, and questions a captive Akintola in the cargo hold. The combined interrogation of Arden, Warren (telepathic), and later Thormod reveals several pieces of information - including the name of the man Thad met with - Nazir - and another name, the Order of Sraosha, a cult that appears responsible for Thad’s disappearance. Confirming that Fujiwara is a friend of Thormod Bowman who suggested Akintola for a guard position, the party goes to question her, and finds her an unwilling accomplice, forced to help the Order. They bring her back to Thormod, and head to the Below Decks. They track Thad’s compad to a storage room where they interrupt an apparent sacrifice in progress, with Nazir and three other cultists and several innocents. They charge in, immediately killing Nazir as the other cultists flee, and Joshua revives him with a Lazarus patch, learning from him that Thad joined the Order on his own! The city’s Security and Emergency teams show up to clean up, leaving the party to return to Thormod, who asks them to take on the task of finding Thad.

SESSION TWO RECAP - December 11, 2016
THE PARTY: Joshua Wytov - Expert pilot and navigator. Warren Mason - Psychic (telepathy) negotiator. Chie Maki - Psychic (biopsionics) healer/researcher. Arden Perry - Warrior, security officer and former space marine.
RESCUED!
In the aftermath of the aborted sacrifice, the party meets Sergeant Litvak of Kolar Security Corp (KSC). They tell him about their investigation so far, and he takes Nazir (and Akintola) into custody, as well as the physical evidence at the scene - such as Thad’s compad. Warren attempts to sneak the compad away with telekinesis, but is unsuccessful. Litvak asks them to share any information they find in their own travels, and he will (somewhat reluctantly) assist them if he can. He allows them to briefly question a couple of the victims, and tells the party that there have been other missing persons reported around the planet.
Back at Bowman Multistellar, Thormod tells them that in order to more effectively pursue Thad, they should take their ship to the city of Rusthaven for upgrades.
They fly to Rusthaven and leave the Solar Flame in the care of Ranjit Indrani, who agrees to replace one weapon system and upgrade their spike drive to a level 2 for faster travel. The refit will take about 24 hours.
In the meantime, they continue their search for clues on the Order of Sraosha. Chie manages to reach a Professor Collins at Turtle Bay University, and learns that Sraosha is a minor deity from the ancient Earth religion of Zoroastrianism. Along with two others, Mithra and Rashnu, Sraosha guards the Chinvat Bridge, the passage between life and the afterlife. His name also means Obedience. Collins says she has no idea why this cult would claim to worship Sraosha, as he is generally considered to be a benevolent entity.
Joshua, Warren and Arden visit a spacer bar, the Rusty Bucket, to ask around about missing persons. They meet Blackdog, a rugged spacer crewman and his friends. Upon hearing that Sgt. Litvak is investigating missing persons, he leaves briefly, then returns to tell the party that his sister Cheryl has been missing as well.
The party does some shopping, with Arden buying a new weapon.
After their investigations, the party retires for the evening at the Spaceport Hotel.
ATTACK!
They are awakened in the middle of the night by explosions, alarms, and the floor jerking to the side. They quickly exit the Hotel, and find Rusthaven itself under attack, and Ranjit calls to tell them their ship is being stolen! They race toward his shop on the other end of the spaceport, but are too late - they see their ship taking off, and find Ranjit injured but mostly okay. Chie gets recording from the Flame’s security cameras, showing Sraosha cultists as the culprits.
They take Ranjit and rush back to the spaceport to find a way off the doomed city, and happen to find Estevan Cook - and his personal ship - leading refugees on board to escape. They board as well, with Cook giving them a raised eyebrow.
The ship takes off to head to Seabreeze, and the passengers witness Rusthaven begin sinking into the ocean. Upon questioning, some of the refugees claim to have seen people wearing Sraoshan armbands acting suspicious around the buildings that later exploded.
Arden, convinced that Cook had something to do with the attacks, convinces Josua to hack the lock to Cook’s cabin door, and attempts to search it. He instead finds a secret door to the cockpit, and Cook politely offers to meet with the party and discuss things.
Cook claims he was on Rusthaven for business, and had nothing to do with the attack. Warren’s empathy confirms this as true. Cook then offers the party a job...they immediately refuse, but Cook asks them to meet with him later on Seabreeze to hear his offer in full.
The party learns that during the attack on Rusthaven, a jailbreak was also attempted for Nazir and Akintola on Seabreeze, but both died in the escape attempt. Sgt. Litvak offers to give back Thad’s compad, as there is no longer anyone to investigate. He also checks records and finds confirmation that Leonid “Blackdog” Kavelin’s sister Cheryl Kavelin is missing.
Thormod helps Ranjit get to his friends. He apologizes to the party, not knowing what to do next, but gives them 5000 credits left over from paying Ranjit for the aborted ship upgrade.
After staking it out ahead of time, the party meets Cook at Jade Restaurant, where he gives them his offer: A scientist friend of his, Dr. Jose Paredes, has been arrested and is being held in North Mito on Fuji Gamma by SHOGUN Security. Cook wants the party to meet his contact and help “break” Dr. Paredes out, and in return he’ll loan them a ship.
After much deliberation, the party convinces Cook to add payment in credits for the job, and confirms (with Warren’s assistance) that the offer is legitimate, despite Cook hiding some details. Upon asking for further payment, Cook “offers” to “let” them take whatever they want from SHOGUN’s contraband vault. Chie confirms via news reports that Dr. Paredes was arrested for terrorism, but the evidence was not clear. Despite misgivings, they agree to the mission.
BREAKOUT!
They book passage on a commercial transport, and meet Albert Oliver in Mito. Albert hands Chie his laptop as a test of her skills, and she immediately hacks in, revealing full plans for the SHOGUN precinct.
They will pose as a prisoner transfer crew for Dr. Paredes, and take him to their ship in the impound lot. (At this point, it is revealed that the ship Cook is “loaning” them is the same freighter that Edward Lloyd used to ambush them before.) They gear up for the mission (with Arden adding the important detail of dermofilm face masks to disguise them) and head out.
The mission goes off mostly clean:
The party passes security checkpoints, and splits up at the entrance to the cells.
Arden goes to check on Dr. Paredes and inform him they’ll be moving him soon. He sees Edward Lloyd in the next cell, but Lloyd doesn’t recognize him through the dermofilm, and Arden leaves him there.
Chie and Joshua head to the lower level. Chie installs Albert’s network link in the security station’s computer. Joshua goes to the impound lot to check the ship and meet up with Albert.
Warren heads to the contraband vault for Dr. Paredes’ tools, and meets their inside man, Lewis Okonwo.
As they are all converging on the lower level, the real transport crew arrives, setting off an alarm. Chie and Albert misdirect the guards to the upper level, Warren and Lewis disable one in the security station, and Joshua threatens the remaining two with the ship’s multifocal laser, resulting in their surrender. They head out in the ship, safe for now.

SESSION THREE RECAP - June 7, 2017
THE PARTY: Joshua Wytov - Expert pilot and navigator. Warren Mason - Psychic (telepathy) negotiator. Chie Maki - Psychic (biopsionics) healer/researcher. Arden Perry - Warrior, security officer and former space marine.
JAILBROKEN!
With the help of Lewis Okonwo and Albert Oliver, the party successfully broke Dr. Jose Paredes out of a corporate security jail. As they head into orbit around Fuji Gamma, Albert offers to change the ship’s transponder codes to avoid being tracked, and the party chooses “Stubborn Mule” as the ship’s new name. Albert and Lewis ask to be dropped off at a starport on the opposite side of the planet, and the party plans to bring Dr. Paredes back to Kolar III and Estevan Cook.
In the meantime, however, Dr. Paredes asks the party for more help. He was framed by his former colleagues for a terrorist act, and his research stolen! Despite the questionable evidence of his guilt (“Why would I blow up my own lab?”), his company, Frontier Combine, has abandoned him, and he suspects his research was taken to a semi-secret laboratory in an asteroid orbiting Fuji Beta, a gas giant. He asks the party to help him steal his project back from them, but is initially reluctant to reveal what it is.
During his discussions with the party, he finally reveals that his project is a quantum communications network consisting of satellites and control modules, which not only allow near-instant communication between systems harboring a satellite, but monitoring of ALL comm signals in each system - with the help of his A.I., NCEM. The NCEM (Nth Covariant Electromagnetic) control A.I. allows those with access to search communications for specific keywords, frequencies, or voices, and monitor them secretly. Fortunately, his betrayers have the satellites and control modules, but NOT the A.I., which Dr. Paredes had hidden in hidden compartments in his toolkit.
The party also learns that Dr. Paredes plans to share one of the control modules with Esteban Cook. Cook’s rep Albert confirms that stealing back this comm system is on their list of jobs to assist with in the future, but not immediately.
After Albert and Lewis are dropped off at their destination, the party begins preparation to return to Kolar III and deliver Dr. Paredes to Cook. They talk with him further.
DECISIONS!
There are discussions and disagreements about participating in this job. Joshua in particular is very concerned about the danger of the mission itself, of being hunted down afterward, and of delaying their search for Thad Bowman. Neither Joshua nor Arden have any desire to put this system in the hands of Cook. They discuss options, including destroying the A.I. now, refusing the mission completely, or attempting the mission and then keeping the spoils from Cook.
(During this time, Warren confirms that Dr. Paredes is being truthful, at least to his own knowledge, and has both pride and confidence that his project works. Chie confirms that even from the news reports of the “attack”, the media is not convinced that Dr. Paredes is guilty. She also manages, by way of a “friendly chat” with the Doctor while giving him a medical exam, to get a few more details about the NCEM - including that Dr. Paredes stole the original A.I. core and spent five years programming it to support his system.)
Finally, a decision is made, and the party meets with the Doctor. Joshua mentions their search for Thad, and the cult, and their attack on Rusthaven, and agrees to help so they can fight the Order better. The Doctor is shocked, and reveals also that he is no real “friend” of Cook’s...and in fact, Cook forced him to agree to share the comm system with him in exchange for helping break him out of jail.
The Doctor asks for six hours in the ship’s science lab to prove himself. The party swings by Fuji Beta’s gas giant to refuel and then heads for the edge of the system. The Doctor finishes his jury-rigged product - a temporary local interface for the AI, and can immediately access local comm traffic. Chie’s compad beeps, and reveals that her security cameras on the Solar Flame are still active, and the ship is somewhere in-system - with Thad at the helm!

SESSION FOUR RECAP - June 21, 2017
THE PARTY: Joshua Wytov - Expert pilot and navigator. Warren Mason - Psychic (telepathy) negotiator. Chie Maki - Psychic (biopsionics) healer/researcher. Arden Perry - Warrior, security officer and former space marine.
PURSUIT!
As Dr. Paredes demonstrates the NCEM system’s power by linking it to their ship, the party discovers that Chie’s custom security system is still operational on board the Solar Flame...it’s somewhere in-system, and Thad Bowman is on board! He is accompanied by a woman and six cultists. Joshua manages to identify their general heading through the camera view (“I know that ship well enough to read the console!”) and discover that they’re heading toward Fuji Gamma! In addition, Joshua identifies the woman with Thad as Cheryl Kavelin, the missing sister of Blackdog from Rusthaven.
The party plots an intercept course, triangulating the Flame’s destination on the way, just before Dr. Paredes’ temporary interface shuts down.
Various plans are discussed for how to get the ship and Thad back, including reporting it to Starport Security, or contacting Miss Yamasaki at Honda Station to ID the ship, but in the end they decide to simply attempt to recapture it (and Thad) themselves. Joshua and the Doctor drop them off and retreat to synchronous orbit. Chie monitors the security cameras and discovers that Thad has been left on the ship in Bay 32 (a closed hangar bay) with two cultists who appear to be keeping him on the bridge.
The ship is locked, so Arden and Warren cover the main entrance while Chie attempts to quietly override the cargo elevator controls, preventing notification from reaching the bridge. She is successful, but as they take the elevator back up, the guards are notified by the vibrations and head back to investigate. As soon as they enter the cargo hold, they are fired on! They manage to take a single shot before Arden kills one guard, Warren telekinetically disarms the second, and Arden finishes off the second when he attempts to charge them.
Thad is surprised to see them, and initially angry. Chie says that they’re going to return him (and the ship) to his father, despite Thad’s protests that it is “MY ship!” Warren’s kind words convince Thad to stand down before he can call the other cultists on the comm, and when Thad learns of the disaster at Rusthaven, he is appalled, and agrees to go home with them.
They take off and head to meet Joshua and the Doctor in orbit, and from there, home?

SESSION FIVE RECAP - July 3, 2017
THE PARTY: Joshua Wytov - Expert pilot and navigator. Warren Mason - Psychic (telepathy) negotiator. Chie Maki - Psychic (biopsionics) healer/researcher. Arden Perry - Warrior, security officer and former space marine.
RESCUED!
The party just managed to rescue Thad along with his ship, now called the Absolution. They dock with the Stubborn Mule in orbit of Fuji Gamma and discuss plans. Arden and Warren decide to stay with Thad on the Absolution, and Chie heads over to the Mule.
Because they don’t have the skill to alter ship transponders on their own, they decide to hide the Absolution near the edge of the system and shut it down, and make their way back to Kolar III on the Mule. As they are discussing final details, a ship leaves the traffic lanes and heads toward them, so they split off in two directions. The ship - which turns out to be a fighter - follows the Absolution.
With Thad at the helm, they manage to keep their distance from the fighter until their course change, where the fighter catches up and attacks! Thad performs evasive maneuvers while Warren and Arden return fire. They take a couple of hits, but are finally victorious, blasting the fighter into dust.
(Meanwhile, Joshua, Chie and the Doc have a boring, uneventful voyage to the rendezvous point. Fun!)
They meet up with the Mule and park the Absolution on an asteroid at the edge of the system, and jump to Kolar in the Mule.
JOURNEY’S END?
During the three day journey, Warren talks with Thad, and Arden with Dr. Paredes.
Thad mentions that he was apparently recruited by Nazir specifically for his piloting skills, being required to demonstrate them first, and later his ship is delivered to him. After this point, however, he is basically held captive on his ship by Cheryl Kavelin and guards. Thad is told that he is destined to “bring them to Sraosha”, but is not sure exactly what that means. (As a side note, Thad witnessed Cheryl touch someone and identify them as a psychic.)
Dr. Paredes again attempts to convince the party to help with his mission, but is rebuffed by Arden, who explains that even after the Doc’s intel, there’s still far too little information to risk it.
HOME
Back at Seabreeze on Kolar III, the party lands at Bowman Multistellar and learns from the guard on duty that Thormod is at home, but is not answering calls. Chie and the Doc stay behind while Joshua, Warren, Arden and Thad head to his home. Finding the front door blasted open, they call security and enter. The main area is trashed, and Thormod is lying against the wall, shot but alive. He greets his son, thanks the party, then falls unconscious. Arden administers first aid then checks the rest of the house. He finds a compad in the bedroom with a video message. Nazir (the now allegedly twice-dead cultist) tells them to return Thad to them in 12 hours or “everyone you know and love will die”.
As Arden and Thad accompany Thormod to the hospital and KSC investigates the home further, Joshua calls Esteban Cook for help. Cook puts them in touch with Agent Rafael Waring of the Ophiuchan Perimeter Division (OPD). He says he will meet them at the Bowman home soon.
TO BE CONTINUED!
(I had a really hard time planning for this session. I asked several people for assistance with brainstorming, and virtually all of my planning was related to the "lab heist" that I already knew the party had a good chance of rejecting or putting off until they had more info or assistance. So I ended up improvising, which was fine, except I was REALLY SLOW at it. We played for about four hours, and covered about 90 minutes worth of actual game/story. I will be attempting to stengthen both my improvisational skills and my campaign planning further before our next session.)

Because (as probably everyone here knows already) I love LEGO, I decided to create the party's characters in minifigure form: From left to right: Joshua (pilot/mechanic), Chie (psychic medic/computer expert), Warren (psychic negotiator), and Arden (ex-space marine security).

Here's the pilot and his chair. Someday I'll figure out how to design the entire ship's bridge. My first attempt looked like crap other than this chair.

Since this has now become the "ABz shows off his LEGOs", here's my latest build, a gravcar the party may use in a chase scene in their next session! (More images in the gallery here: imgur.com/a/st68I )

Warrior (on the right) and the construction exosuit (center) that he may "borrow" next session to search for stolen cargo and/or fight off some cultists! (On the left is the first suit I attempted to make for the warrior. The big suit actually fits him inside, which is silly for RPG purposes, but what the hell?) More images here: imgur.com/a/khDO8

SESSION SIX RECAP - July 31, 2017
THE COUNTDOWN
The party is back on Seabreeze. They’ve rescued Thad and brought him home, only to find his father, Thormod, shot in his home and a video recording of Nazir telling them to turn Thad over to the Order in 12 hours or “everyone you know and love will die”. Joshua and Warren are at Thormod’s home while Kolar Security investigates and cleans up. Chie and Dr. Paredes are at Bowman Multistellar, and Arden and Thad are accompanying Thormod to the hospital
Joshua calls Esteban Cook for help, and Cook puts him in contact with Agent Rafael Waring of the Ophiuchan Perimeter Division (OPD), who is on Kolar III investigating the Order. Waring says he will meet them at the Bowman residence.
Cook immediately calls Joshua back and tells him a car is on its way to pick up Dr. Paredes, as it is probably unwise to involve the OPD with the Doctor’s AI at this point. Joshua agrees, gets identifying information about the car and driver, and notifies Chie and Arden about the plans.
When he learns of his impending pickup, Dr. Paredes turns over the NCEM core to Chie, asking her to keep it safe, and promises to talk to them soon. The car arrives and the Doctor takes his leave. Chie moves the Stubborn Mule to the lower docks of Bowman Multistellar, and conceals the NCEM core inside Robbie the security robot’s chassis. She asks Guard Philip to keep an eye on the security cameras and notify her if there’s anything strange outside.
Agent Waring arrives at the Bowman home along with Agent Marks and three others who remain in their vehicle. Waring and Marks discuss The Order with Joshua and Warren and their interactions with them. When told about the attack on Thormod, Waring sends two more men to the hospital (Agents Biggs and Wedge) to guard him.
After Waring and Marks hear most of the party’s story so far (minus references to the Doctor or the NCEM), they share the information they have - that the attack on Rusthaven may not have been an “attack” at all. Preliminary investigations show that it may have been a massive systems failure or malfunction that caused the city to sink, as no explosives were found. As The Order has not claimed responsibility for the attack, perhaps they were attempting to accomplish something else?
Waring and Marks promise to look further into The Order, and Marks shakes their hands as they head out. Agent Owen exits the OPD vehicle and remains with Joshua and Warren.
ATTACK!
Suddenly, Philip reports suspicious vehicles outside Bowman, and Chie notifies the rest of the party, and all converge on Bowman Multistellar. Joshua, Warren and Owen approach from the west, Arden and Thad and the rest of the OPD agents from the east, to find four cultists and four combat robots assaulting the entrance! Chie observes via the security cameras.
Dropping Warren and Owen off, Joshua charges the group with his gravcar, destroying one robot outright! Arden tells Thad to sneak in the back through the docks, then grabs his rifle from Joshua’s trunk as he pulls around for another charge, taking out another cultist!
The OPD agents attack, with Owen taking down one cultist (while Warren uses him for cover) before getting hit, Agent Rodriguez jumping onto the vehicle roof (and promptly slipping and falling off), Waring and Marks performing a “skeet shooting” maneuver using telekinesis and a laser rifle on a cultist, and Agent Jones sneaking to a roof and sniping several targets.
As the team surround him, the final surviving cultist surrenders and promises to cooperate. Joshua and Chie manage to revive a second cultist, the “one-two punch” target, but find him barely conscious and unhelpful.
AFTERMATH
The team bring all of the bodies and robots into Bowman’s main office. Chie administers first aid to the wounded cultist and finds an injection mark on him, so she and Thad take him down to the ship’s medbay for further examination - discovering nanites in his system! Chie flushes the nanites out and stores them in the medbay for future investigation, and the cultist recovers consciousness, not knowing where he is or how he got there.
The injured “cultist” describes a lab in a warehouse, a large doctor with a cybernetic arm, and remembering nothing but blurry images after being injected with something.
The rest of the party interrogate the other cultist briefly. He mentions a warehouse where he came from, but says the attack on Bowman was a diversion. Just then, Waring receives a call from Agent Wedge, saying he and Biggs were attacked at the hospital. Biggs is dead, and Thormod is gone!
Arden attempts to call Doctor Paredes, and Nazir answers his comm! He says the Doctor is unavailable, and that time is running out for them to return Thad. “Tick tock!”
During the two calls, Agent Owen and the other cultist disappear. Joshua runs to check the cameras, and finds them leaving through the docks, and heading toward a nearby vehicle! The team rushes outside and takes off after Owen, with Joshua and Warren in the lead, and the rest of the OPD team and Arden trailing!
The chase is short-lived, however, when Arden’s first shot clips Owen’s head, causing him to lose control, barrel roll and crash the car, barely surviving but unconscious! The other cultist manages to survive with minor bruises, and again surrenders immediately!

SESSION SEVEN RECAP - August 7th, 2017
THE COUNTDOWN CONTINUES
Having just stopped Agent Owen and the “cooperative” cultist (Xenon) from escaping, the party and the OPD reconvene at their vehicles. Agent Waring invites them to accompany him and his team back to the OPD command ship parked at the government City Center facility, and leaves with both cultists. Chie asks the rest of the party to meet her at their ship first.
On the ship, Chie reveals the NCEM core that Dr. Paredes left in her care. They debate what to do with it, and decide to leave it inside Robbie the security robot for now, and make sure their ship is secured. They re-equip and reload in the ship’s armory and head to OPD headquarters.
THE OPD HQ
They arrive at City Center and are directed to the OPD ship - a frigate large enough for their gravcar to drive inside. They meet Waring in the Command Room. He tells them that Agent Owen, Agent Marks and alleged cultist Richard are in the Medbay recovering from their injuries, while cultist Xenon is in an interrogation room.
Chie visits the medbay and scans Owen for evidence of nanites, finding nothing.
Warren and Arden question both Richard and Xenon, comparing their stories.
Richard is a laborer who was abducted from his workplace, woke up in a lab inside a shipping warehouse, and was almost immediately injected with nanites and his memory blurry after that. They determine that he has been missing for about two days.
Xenon claims to be an unskilled person with no future who joined The Order of his own volition, and has been used in security and abductions. He corroborates Richard’s story of the Lab, and seeing the doctor with the cybernetic arm and Nazir there. He heard Esteban Cook’s name mentioned but doesn’t know the context, and heard a reference to “The Left Hand of Sraosha”, but doesn’t know much else about The Order’s plans. He gives further details on the lab, explaining that it’s located on a corporate platform inside the massive cargo shipping facility next to the Western Starport.
They check the impound room for the cultists’ belongings and find a security badge for the facility under the corporation name “Panstellar Shipping”.
After reconvening and sharing this information, Joshua attempts to contact Cook and gets no answer. Calling Cook’s office, he speaks with Cook’s secretary, Emily, who says Cook has been out of contact for a while, and he was supposed to meet with Dr. Paredes earlier but the Doctor didn’t show up. Joshua warns her that Dr. Paredes was abducted and Cook may be in danger, and she promises to pass on the message if she hears from him.
As they discuss further strategy, Agents Rodriguez and Jones offer to go scope out the facility. Jones takes the security badge, and within minutes returns with a matching security officer disguise. Rodriguez drops him off at the warehouse and returns. Jones connects them with an overhead feed of the area, showing several workers, an open cargo container with nearby hauler, a crane, two security robots, a cargo exosuit and a glass-walled lab container.
As they prepare to leave, Waring offers Arden the use of a combat exosuit procured in a prior mission, but Arden declines.
WAREHOUSE ATTACK!
With Jones in position, the party (with Thad and Agent Rodriguez) approach the platform. As they arrive, the workers back away. Arden, Chie and Warren walk straight toward the lab, Joshua claims the cargo exosuit, and Thad hides. The “evil” doctor exits the lab with a civilian woman, and sends on her way. Rodriguez follows to question her. Warren goes to look inside a large cargo container, finding a large tank of blue liquid and several smaller tanks/devices. Arden approaches the doctor, who invites him into the lab. As soon as Arden begins questioning him, Warren senses an impending attack, all of the nearby workers’ minds go blank, and they begin grabbing tools and attack!
Warren notices a larger security robot climb on top of the hauler and attack, while a worker comes up the ramp behind him!
Joshua grabs a worker to keep him from getting injured and/or injuring others, but the exosuit is knocked over by the crane, swinging a crate like a morning star! He is hit again, then moves out of range behind the container. The crane hits the container, knocking the big robot and worker off their feet, and Warren jumps back just in time to miss the container’s door swinging shut!
The Doctor tries to throw Arden on the lab bed, but fails, then blocks Arden’s pistol shot with his arm, taking heavy damage! Arden is punched back into the wall, but bounces back with his stun baton, knocking the Doctor out with another hit to his arm.
Chie is surrounded by workers and punched twice in the back. She teleports away and up to the crane control tower, and blasts the controls! The robot turns to fire on her, and is destroyed by a well-placed shot from Warren!
The workers converge on Warren, and Thad takes a couple of shots at them, hitting one. As Arden exits the lab to help, the big robot jumps into the hauler and attaches it to the container, apparently preparing to leave with it. Joshua’s exosuit rips the connector arm off one side, and a well-placed shot by Jones disables the other, and Joshua runs up and punches the robot out of the hauler! As soon as this is done, the mind-controlled workers all fall unconscious! Joshua revives the one critically injured worker, and the team rests, preparing their next actions!

SESSION EIGHT RECAP - September 3rd, 2017
(EDIT - Action shots from session 8: imgur.com/a/AdmJE )
THE PARTY: Joshua Wytov - Expert pilot and navigator. Warren Mason - Psychic (telepathy) negotiator. Chie Maki - Psychic (biopsionics) healer/researcher. Arden Perry - Warrior, security officer and former space marine. WAREHOUSE INVESTIGATION
The party managed to subdue the evil doctor and the nearby mind-controlled workers, with only one casualty - a worker shot in panic by Thad, who Joshua and Chie stabilized with a Lazarus patch. While everyone was unconscious, the party gathered to discuss plans for the doctor, the portable lab, and the container full of nanite tanks. Suddenly, a figure in a dark robe and mask appeared over the remains of the cargo robot, reaching into its chest and ripping out some machinery, then disappearing! Chie spotted the figure on a catwalk afterward - a teleporting psychic! As the psychic attempted to run and teleport to escape, and the party fired on him, Warren made two shots in a row that completely obliterated him! Since he was already up in the catwalks, Jones grabbed the stolen tech and met up with the party. (Arden made a second trip up to try and identify the body, but it was gone, leaving behind only a mask.) The party identified the stolen device as a transmitter, likely for the nanites. They found a similar one imbedded in the doctor’s cybernetic arm - so Arden located a cutting torch and removed the arm at the elbow. They then reconnected the container to the cargo hauler, and with Joshua driving it and Arden piloting the construction exosuit, the party and OPD members headed back to OPD HQ. MYSTERY OF THE NANITES
At the HQ, the party examines the transmitter further, and discovers that it has several settings, but can’t be used to program new ones. They attempt to interrogate the doctor, but he is not cooperative. Searching OPD criminal records, they discover that his name is Dr. Prot Fabin, a known employee of Vologda and involved in cybernetics and maltech research. The party decides, with the permission of Agent Waring, to use the nanites on Dr. Fabin himself. He struggles, but Arden holds him down while Warren administers the injection, and Joshua (in the lab several rooms away) turns the transmitter to the “follow orders” setting. Warren questions Fabin, who reveals that he does not know where Nazir is currently, but suggests that he can be tracked by triangulating the nanite transmitter frequency. He doesn’t know exactly why Nazir wants Thad, but mentions the phrase “Alyad Alyuusra” was used in reference to him. (During the interrogation, the OPD identifies several of their employees and guards who went blank when the transmitter was turned on. They are all captured, isolated and prepared for a nanite flush.) Once the interrogation is over (and it is made clear to Fabin that he was helpful, leaving him screaming obscenities at them in a Slavic language), the party heads out to locate Nazir. They drive around the city, locating three piggyback-transmitters, and triangulate Nazir’s position from there - the water treatment plant. WATER DISASTER
Chie and Joshua manage to hack the city’s public works records and find blueprints of the water systems. The city pulls in water from the ocean, runs it through desalinization, then through two pumping stations to the Treatment Facility, and from there to the rest of the city. Arden takes Waring up on the offer to borrow their suit of power armor. With the assistance of four OPD agents (Rodriguez, Jones, Wedge and one other) to secure the pumping stations, the party heads to the Treatment Facility. They arrive to find Nazir and Cheryl on a catwalk above the main floor with two other cultists, and a group of civilians held captive, including Dr. Paredes, Hina Fujiwara, and Blackdog. Cheryl is arguing with Nazir as they enter about Blackdog being there, complaining that he was supposed to be capturing associates of the party, not her. Joshua announces their arrival by shouting to Nazir. “Where’s Thormod?” Cheryl runs across the catwalk and raises a bridge leading to Nazir’s platform. Nazir replies, “What? What the hell are you doing here? You’re supposed to call me to arrange a meeting!” “Well, we’re here now. WHERE’S THORMOD?” “HE’S NOT HERE! What part of - AAAH!” Nazir screams as Warren telekinetically pushes him off the platform, falling two stories to the floor below. “Oh no, he fell!” yells Warren to cover his actions. As combat begins, Joshua deactivates the nanites via his transmitter, knocking out the civilians who were all affected, at the same time sending the signal to the OPD teams to shut down the pumping stations. Immediately, another teleporting psychic appears next to Nazir, attempting to rouse him, but Arden blasts a hole through his chest with the armor’s light laser. One cultist hides in the corner in fear. The other cultist and Cheryl return fire, injuring some of the party, but their weapons are not strong enough to pierce Arden’s power armor. Nazir wakes up, screams in horror at the dead psychic next to him, and attempts to escape, meeting another psychic on the ramp. One of the cultists blocks the line of fire long enough for them to teleport away. At this point, the party calls to the remaining cultists and Cheryl to surrender, which they do. Cheryl gives them five potential locations where Thormod could be held. They call Nazir back, and despite his obvious anger (especially at their mention of the “Alyad Alyuusra” name), manage to convince him to meet up with him to trade Thad for Thormod, “for real this time”. Nazir tells them to meet him in Storage Room B below the shopping mall in one hour. The party prepares to head there immediately. TO BE CONTINUED

SESSION NINE RECAP - September 24th, 2017
PLANS
After the confrontation in the water treatment plant and the subsequent conversation with Nazir, the party returns to OPD HQ to prepare for their second attempt to meet Nazir and rescue Thormod, this time offering to trade him for Thad as originally requested. Nazir has told them to meet him below the shopping mall, in Storage Room B. As Cheryl Kavelin has already given them a list of five locations where other hostages might be held, and the storage room is one of them, they plan to send teams to as many locations as possible at once.
The party will go to Storage Room B. Blackdog has offered to assist, so he, his men, and the available OPD agents split up to check the location in the City Center Tower, the access tunnels underneath Esteban Cook’s mansion, and and an apartment a few blocks from Bowman Multistellar, leaving only the Panstellar warehouse unsearched.
While they are discussing plans, Dr. Paredes asks to speak with Chie. He confirms that the NCEM core is safe, and they exchange information about what has occurred in the last ten hours or so (using Warren’s mental link to exchange information secretly between party members):
Dr. Paredes was captured right outside Cook’s home, by Order forces who appeared to be attacking the home itself. He doesn’t remember much else until waking up in the water treatment plant with the other hostages. Chie informs Dr. Paredes about the mind-control nanites and asks him if he can help disable them completely. They also notify him that Dr. Fabin is held captive, and they confirm that Fabin works for Vologda, the company that stole Paredes’ project and was attempting to kidnap him. Paredes suggests using the NCEM A.I. to disable the nanites, as it appears their communication protocols might be copied off of the NCEM’s own, but after discussing risks of allowing an A.I. to access the city’s comm network, the party votes not to do so. Dr. Paredes says he will attempt to develop a way to break the nanites’ control on his own, but is not confident that he can do so within two hours.
RESCUE, REDUX
After extensive planning, the party heads to the Mall and down to the lower level. Arden takes point in his borrowed Power Armor, with Thad riding piggyback on his shoulders, and Warren, Chie and Joshua follow. They sweep the rooms and halls leading to Storage Room B, scaring off three cultists, including one manning a heavy laser in a side hallway and two in the room directly opposite of B.
They open the doors, and find Nazir, a psychic, and two cultists, with Thormod behind them in a wheelchair. A very brief conversation ensues (“Thormod, are you okay?” “Yeah, mostly!”) before Arden opens fire! He appears to get a direct hit on Nazir, but it instead hits the wall behind them.
As one of the cultists grabs Thormod and wheels him away, two more psychics appear in the hall - a teleporter and a telekinesis master! The TK master flings Thad off of Arden’s suit into the room opposite, and Joshua runs after him, while the TK psychic throws a wave of force that knocks Arden down the hall!
Chie and Warren trade shots with the cultists. Chie fires at the walls to set off the sprinkler system as a diversion.
Arden gets back up and fires at the TK master, missing, and has his light laser rifle pulled away from him. Warren manages to pull it back up the hall toward Arden, but a cultist runs out of Room B, grabs the rifle, and attempts to flee with it. Arden chases him, smashes him flat with a single punch, and retrieves the rifle.
The party manages to injure the TK master, and he reteams with the other teleporter and flees.
Nazir and his psychic teleport across the hall. Joshua grabs Thad, backs away, and puts his pistol to Thad’s head!
Joshua and Nazir speak briefly. Nazir - “You wouldn’t hurt him!” Joshua - “Try me, Alyad Alyumnaa!” Nazir - “You’ve done your homework.” Joshua - “If you needed our help, why didn’t you just ASK?” Nazir - “You wouldn’t have helped us anyway!”
Nazir runs forward to grab Thad, and the psychic runs up behind, and teleports all of them away to another storage area! Thad shoots (and kills) the psychic. Nazir tries again to grab Thad and take him hostage, but Thad fights back, giving Joshua a chance to shoot! Nazir flees, saying “This isn’t over!”
