I have to admit, I was pretty underwhelmed. Maybe as we get more footage as we get closer to the release date, I'll get more excited, but I can't help but think that four Star Wars movies in 2 1/2 years (after there were 6 Star Wars movies during the first 29 years of the franchise) is overkill. And I liked Force Awakens, Rogue One, and Last Jedi.
But yeah, I found myself far more interested in the utter absurdity of Jurassic World 2 (I admit, I shouldn't expect realism from a movies about dinosaurs rampaging in the present day, but why was Jurassic Park/World built on an active volcano? Why are they trying to save the dinosaurs? Why, after the events of all the previous movies, has InGen not said "You know, building yet another monster dinosaur might not be a good idea?" Why is a raptor running amok in a suburban house?), and trying to figure out just how they could afford all the actors that show up in The Avengers (at this point, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Wonder Woman and Batman are in it somewhere), and even The Rock Dies Hard and Mission: Impossible SuperHugeNumber than I was in Solo.

I guess they're still going for the "Solo worked for the Empire" thing that I vaguely recall hearing about in the EU but don't remember ever coming up in the actual movies?

We may get a lot of EU stuff canonized in this - Solo working for the Empire, the whole Life Debt thing, Solo's sort-of wife, how the Kessel Run works. They've got a fairly fleshed out backstory from which to pick and choose.

I like the look of it and his delivery of the "we're fine" line at the end is pretty solid, but still pretty nervous about it.
Clarke looks good.

Like I said over at the Avocado, I am 110% buying what this movie is selling. A space heist? Orchestrated by space Woody Harrelson? With a young Han Solo who seems to be hitting the right notes of "I definitely know what I'm doing!" *winks* *checks what he's doing, hopes no-one notices* as the original version? A trailer that starts with a very Edgar Wright-esque bit of editing? Take my money.

Exactly--was anyone happy with being shown Kirk's Kobayashi Maru in Star Trek?Someone at work said this looked weirdly like 09 Trek..... and I kinda agree. I just don't think early Han stuff is interesting as a premise, wish it was just a lando film.

My actual opinion of this trailer, as someone who likes Star Wars and has enjoyed the past three movies, is that it looks really bland.

I'm avoiding all trailers and spoilers, but still hoping for Childish Gambino's "Lando Calrissian (featuring Chewie and some guy)"

I just don't think early Han stuff is interesting as a premise, wish it was just a lando film. Same. I have zero interest in young Han Solo. He's not a character who exudes mystery and intrigue. I don't care about his backstory. Lando would be a cool character to explore though. Wish the film was about him. Edited: The trailer itself is kinda blah. I'm not buying the actor as Han. The plot seems predictable. I am slightly interested in Emilia Clarke's character. But, I don't trust this film to do anything but bland cliches.

I don't care to ever see Rogue 1 again either. As to Solo, it looks decent to me. If I had never seen a Star War, I would be as excited for this as a new Luc Besson movie except this has Donald Glover and other people I like too.

To me Solo is inessential enough that if it's good, it's a pleasant surprise, and if it's not, I won't be too worked up over it.

There was a feature on Weezer and their collective Star Wars obsession, back in the pre- Pinkerton days I think. Not being on a regular 9-5 work week, they renamed the days for Star Wars characters when they were setting a schedule for band practices. There was some quote about how "Wednesday sucks, but you can't be mad about Lando-day". I still think about that sometimes when I'm stuck at my desk. Then I say " Lando day?" inside my head in the same skeptical voice as Leia says " Lando system?"

Is it just me or does Alden Ehrenreich look older than Ford did in 1977?

I try not to do or think things out of spite, but I kinda want this movie to be great just for all the people howling that this is all such a terrible, unthinkable idea.

I don't think it's terrible or unthinkable or anything, I just think it's one of the least interesting ideas for a Star Wars movie they could have done, with the added difficulty of replacing Harrison Ford. Plus the director chaos indicates something odd is up with it. But I'd be thrilled if it's good.
