That would be supremely weird! I think both records are untouchable. Well, it’s not looking good for him breaking either record, because Elly de la Cruz has zero errors in his last two games (and actually made some very nice defensive plays in Sunday’s loss to the Mets), and also his hit streak is back to one game after failing to record a hit on Sunday. On the other hand, de la Cruz had a fantastic game against the Brewers today, going 3-4, with a stolen base, a solo home run, and then another solo in the park homer. Also, the Brewers first baseman had one of the worst games I’ve ever seen a player have defensively, and this is with the majority of the baseball I’ve seen in my life having been mediocre minor league teams. That guy could not catch anything today.

I loved that inside-the-park home run. Elly de la Cruz is such an exciting young player.

Elly de la Cruz turned what should probably have been a ground out into a single by being so fast that he forced the Angels’ shortstop into making a bad play, then managed to steal second base, third base, and home. Also he hit a three run homer in this game.

The Dbacks looked terrible last night. So, of course they came back tonight and won the game 17-1. Jordan Montgomery makes his Dbacks debut. He looked good. He wasn't needed at all. DBacks have a player named Blaze Alexander who hit a grand slam in this game.
Today was my birthday, so this was a nice gift from the Dbacks.

They give the Viking helmet and cape to players whenever they hit a home run. Apparently it started last season when a former Reds pitcher wanted to get the helmet just for outfielder Jake Fraley because he thought he looks like a Viking, but then it turned into a silly fun celebration thing for anyone on the team who hits a homer. But yeah, I guess that DBacks game was tied for their largest margin of victory in team history or something? And Blaze Alexander is a great name (also, as a side note, the bases were loaded when de la Cruz came up to the plate during his home run at bat, so if an earlier wild pitch hadn’t allowed the guy on third to score, his homer would also have been a grand slam - after a rough series pitching-wise against the Mariners, it was nice to see the other team’s pitcher giving up runs from wild pitches and walks).

The Padres pitcher balked in a run last night against the Reds. Always love to see balks.
Also, Elly de la Cruz, while throwing to first for what should have been a routine out, threw the ball a little high and so fast that the first baseman didn’t catch it, resulting in an error but it also may literally be the fastest that anyone has ever thrown a baseball in an MLB game. This is why he’s the coolest baseball guy, even when he screws up by like throwing an error or getting trapped underneath the rain tarp with the baseball while the ball is in play and the other team has guys running the bases, it’s always in service of making a really cool catch or throwing a baseball faster than anyone has ever thrown a baseball before or whatever.

Seeing a pitcher balk in a run is always weird and sometimes fun. It is definitely not fun if it is your team doing it.
I saw the clip of Elly de la Cruz. Ha! That was crazy. He's such a fun young player to follow.
