Seiken Densetsu 4 OST. I'm not a cool person, I'll admit to this, but it's very pleasant. I thought that OST was kind of bland (at least compared to the soundtracks of FF VI and Chrono Trigger); Meridian Child is fantastic though. Alex Burkat - Shower Scene (John Talabot mix)Also, everyone should pay more attention to John Talabot. I can see it being considered bland, it's kind of pastoral and stuff, but I like it a lot. Good relaxing music. But right now I'm listening to this:

By some miracle my local library had "Waking On a Pretty Daze" available, making it the first album I listened to in the year it actually came out in years. It's also one of the very few albums I picked every song from as well. Will immediately get "Smoke Rings for my Halo" out whenever the bastard that has it out now returns it. I like "Smoke Rings...." even better than "Waking..." It's all great stuff. I really love "Waking..." A friend gave it to me and i put it in my car cd player and just never took it out for like a month. Will definitely look into the rest of his work.

I am currently jamming my favorite Latin rock band, Soda Stereo from Argentina. I have always considered them to be the Latin Pink Floyd, especially on their MTV Unplugged record, Comfort y Musica Para Volar. I was first introduced to them in college from a kid whose father was Chilean, and this kid heard them while visiting his dad there. I come back to them quite often. They are pretty awesome.

I've kind of fallen in love with the Inside Llewyn Davis soundtrack. And I can definitively say that I like the Oscar Isaac-only version of "Fare Thee Well (Dink's Song)" more than the version with Marcus Mumford.

I listened to the entire Tool discography today while working on a project, and am making my way through St. Vincent's now (I'm on Strange Mercy).

I'm listening to Wye Oak's Civilian, which I really like, both as a whole and in terms of individual songs. Specifically, I'm listening to the title track right now.

I asked Santa (okay, fine, my brother and sister-in-law) for that album. Here's hoping the elves are pressing the vinyl as we speak! As for what I'm listening to right now: Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds "Live from KCRW":

Morgan Fisher's odd album of covers Hybrid Kids, specifically his old-school industrial version of D'ya Think I'm Sexy.

Does anybody outside of Texas know who Robert Earl Keen Jr. is? He has been a Texas institution since the early to mid 1990's, and he is an extremely great country songwriter. He went to Texas A&M University (my alma mater), where he was roommates with Lyle Lovett. They used to play songs on the front porch of their house in their underwear to entertain to passing churchgoers on Sunday mornings. Anyway, Lyle would go on to national attention, while Keen would stay in Texas and build a huge following over the years by playing show after show in his home state. He was a huge influence on the young Texas country scene that would produce such artists as Pat Green, Jack Ingram, Cory Morrow, Wade Bowen, etc. His songs have been covered by The Highwaymen, George Strait, Patty Griffin, and The Dixie Chicks.
Anyhoo, that's who I'm listening to right now:
