My favorite was DRC commenting on a week old post saying I was confirmed for approval on here since I was worried the admins would think someone else was posing as me.
Hopefully posing doesn't happen as much anymore (since the...unpleasantness).

@dr_John_Zoidberg hey, it's okay to love the beach boys-- but some of us are genuinely irritated by them-- maybe not every song, but definitely the weenie-whiney harmonies. personal taste in music is impossible to nail down.
i had a long-standing friendship in my hometown with a community dj who made the BBs a staple of his show, and i made it a habit to annoy the ever-living shit out of him by calling in to complain. i knew i could count on him to tell me to fuck off, and it gave me a laugh every time.
but even that fond memory will never make the beach boys any less wretched.

there is anecdotal evidence that OCD patients (viewed as "rigid") and Ram Dass's guru (viewed as "open") have a high tolerance/resistance to lsd. it is considered a paradox, but i see roger's trip as a clue to why it is not a paradox.
the OCDers, the guru, and roger have a sense of who they are that may originate from different psychological states, but that sense is very powerful. a complete lack of a high, or a not so trippy trip and even looking in the mirror being okay (with some coaching) could come from the pre-established centeredness of the individual.
some people just don't get high. i don't have lsd experience, but i am highly pot-resistant (through much coaching, smoke-holding, coughing, assurance of quality and quantity) and i have vivid dreams, sometimes lucid ones. my memories of childhood are strong and somewhat synaesthetic. i may be some hybrid of rigid/open, i don't know, but based on other people's disappointment (which always seemed greater than my own) in my not getting high, i would be reluctant to try multiple doses of anything that apparently goes nowhere with my brain chemistry/demeanor.

the eternal message from doods such as abe is, "silence, woman! even your opinion about your own personal struggle is nothing anyone cares about."
all abe could talk about was someone else's struggle, mansplaining it to someone who was, just like he was, a kid from brooklyn. so peggy talked about what she had in common with the absently-referred "negroes." like maybe abe could get as excited about that topic now, since the subject of segregation was sitting right there in front of him.
but no. women were clearly deserving of such treatment, and how dare she compare sex segregation with "real" segregation? women weren't getting shot at the polls after all. of course, marital rape was legal, and wife-beating and spousal murder weren't exactly rare, but those things just don't count. oh, and btw, this happens to women of all colors.
mocking and ridicule are classic silencing tactics because they work. peggy's response was being visibly flustered, quietly gathering herself, then excusing herself.
then, when abe saw the effect he had on her, he apologized, and peggy let him know that he had insulted her. this is what set the tone for their relationship-- classic verbal abuse. abe is a piece of shit.

I don't know if that's the case. My sister, who unlike me, is an actual doctor, won't diagnose or treat her own kids. But when I've been travelling to visit her, and I was sick, she wrote me a prescription rather than making me go to the ER.
