So, I finished the game on Friday afternoon at just a little over 76 hours. And. . . FUCKING SOLAS
FUCK YOU, YOU DREAD WOLF PIECE OF SHIT WHO FUCKING GAVE CORYPHIFISH THE ORB IN THE FIRST PLACE
Anyway, here are my major decisions: I recruited the mages and conscripted them, largely as punishment for betraying me to Tevinter and almost ruining everything. I sacrificed Stroud in the Fade and allied with the Wardens, who clung to the Inquisition due to not having any other leadership. They've apparently severed ties with Weisshaupt entirely.
I saved Celene from assassination by publicly denouncing Florianne and having her arrested. Gaspard was arrested and executed, and I helped Briala and Celene reconcile, believing as an elf and as someone with issues with Celene's behavior as Empress that Briala would be a positive and progressive influence.
I ultimately pardoned Blackwall and romantically reunited with him, which I admittedly had some discomfort with morally, but I do honestly believe that he'll be able to properly atone and repent as he is now. I sacrificed the alliance with the Ben-Hasserath to protect Bull's Chargers, thus making him a Tal-Vashoth. He and the Chargers are happily to remain with and stay loyal to the Inquisition after Corypheus' death. I chose to make Cole more human, encourage Cullen to quit Lyrium, support Dorian in staying distant from his father, helped Leliana to start to move away from her darker path, saved Solas' spirit friend and forced the noble that killed Sera's friend to serve the Inquisition.
I attempted to support Cassandra as Divine, but Vivienne wound up becoming Divine.
I performed the rituals and allied with the Guardians at the Temple of Mythal. I chose to drank from the Well of Sorrows, sincerely trusting Morrigan but believing that it was best for me to take the sacrifice of whatever burden that came with it.
For Sit in Judgment: I sent the guy who attacked us with a goat as an agent to fuck with Tevinter. I ordered mister Time Travel Alexius to work with my conscripted mages, to make up for what he'd done and help us. I put the woman in the Emprise du Lion who betrayed her town to the Red Templars to work. I executed the mayor of Crestwood. I ordered former Duchess Florianne to do farmwork to help the common people of Orlais. I gave Erimond to the Grey Wardens and Samson to Kirkwall for judgment. I gave divine forgiveness Ser Ruth, inspiring her to atone and do good in Ferelden. I recruited Servis as an informant for the Inquisition.

I finished yesterday too, but I had about 140 hours in. I thought the slideshow at the end presented a paucity of information. For example, the choice you make about Iron Bull and his chargers would seem to be incredibly important to the world, but gets no mention.

Also, the Josephine romance didn't get me any patented Bioware side-boob.

Also, the Josephine romance didn't get me any patented Bioware side-boob. I haven't looked at all of the romance option videos, but It would not shock me to learn that the Josephine romance was the most innocent/chaste of the available options. Again, this supports my closeted goody-two shoes theory.

There was nothing closeted about her goody two-shoe ness! So, I loaded my new game yesterday, and to my surprise my Qunari rogue is GONE. Gone. I can't find her anywhere. So it looks like my "replay" will actually be my real game. Not that I'm totally against it. There were some choices that I made in my initial game that I wished I had the chance to undo. For instance, I accidentally led Lianna to the Bad without meaning to - she ended up being willing to do anything to get the job done. And I am pretty sure I never triggered Dorian's full quest. He never asked for anything. I looked it up, and it seems to be a common glitch, which means I would have had to play through again anyway. I also had to kill Solas's friend, which I didn't want to do. Anyway, it looks like my Dalish Elf mage will be my main character after all. And this time I'm going after Cullen. I've already pissed off Solas by saying that I care about my people's history. Fuck that elven asshole with a rusty axe for all I care.

Heh heh. I just watched that Solas video. It's nice of the game to note that he disapproves of getting punched.

I chose the Templars for this go around, and somehow didn't trigger Dorians bug. Yay! Also, I'm finding the Templars a more interesting tale than the mages, and the mages as enemy pretty neat.
I'm also playing in a more slapdash way this time. I go wherever I'm interested in going. I've also not filled any requisitions, which makes completing side missions far more enjoyable because they're actually necessary to advance the plot.

Almost finished with my current Dragon Age 2 playthrough, and I've resolved my connecting to the Dragon Age Keep issue, albeit indirectly. I have a separate xbox account that connects to my email and thus Origin, so I can't directly access saves and playthroughs from my other account. I've settled on recreating my Origins Wardens all in the Keep, since I've already played it enough times, and doing the rest of my Hawkes on the new account, so they can transfer directly.
I will start the tale of Lotaas, gay, female Qunari warrior, soon.

Still doing my second playthrough. anyone else despise the Exaulted Plains? It's a beautiful locale, and the quests are aight, but godDAMN, that oppressive ambient sound that plays without rest is maddening. I can only do bits and pieces before I'm like "o-kay, Western Approach? Crestwood? The undead and a desert are better than this shitty wartorn plain."

Looking up voice cast because I heard the fella who played Cullen also played Anders for the DA:O DLC and then was switched out with someone else for DA2 because Cullen's part was expanded. And what do I find but my dear Ianto from Torchwood playing Solas. I'm sorry you had to play such a punchable asshole, Ianto.
Oooh, and the dude who played Cole is gonna be Andrei in a TV miniseries of War and Peace this year! He's also delightfully swoonable, which makes Cole's adorable killer puppy-like demeanor more impressive.
Seriously folks, great voice actors always leave me floored. They have this amazing ability to embody anyone with no more than their vocal cords.

Lore talk, Tea?

Yes, Lore! Okay, so as I've been going through the second playthrough, I've been picking up quite a bit more of the world story because I don't feel as desperate to see everything RIGHT NOW or to get to the end of the main tale. As GP said before, quite a bit of the story is written in the books or on the notes this time 'round - for instance, I check every little note I encounter now, and have discovered more about, say, the plague in the Fallow Mire or the journeys of various trappers and hunters and merchants that were cut short by something or other on the road so all I see is their remains or perhaps their camp. Which of course makes the whole thing feel a little more vast. But the big thing that I've caught on to is just how complex this world is. I wrote before of how pleased I am at the various history tomes you come across; but going through the hissing wastes again and learning the story of Dwarves chased out of their Thaig for reasons unknown through the journals of an archaeologist looking for answers is a fantastic frame. And this time I'm making an effort to find all the mosaic pieces, because you are given five giant pieces of lore through them it seems. Also, I'm learning through my second playthrough that you REALLY need to play more than one path to get the full story. I linked myself with the Templars this time, and I'm getting totally different info about how this world works as a result. (Also, I think the Templar battles and storyline are just way fucking cooler than the Mage storyline. And Cole's intro beats Dorian's by a mile. Then again I've become a real pro-Cole person - they did a good job with his character). To be more specific about the lore: of course the series is called "Dragon Age" for that is the age whence we are playing. But I'm also seeing how they're threading dragons into the very nature of the story itself. Of course there's the story of the Old Gods (of which there are still two left) and their now archdemon, blighty form, which kicked off the series. But we've also got the Qunari, whom the Ben Hassrath posit are horned and kinda grey because the breeders brought some dragon blood in the mix. You've got Flemeth, who can shapeshift into a dragon, and who carries the soul of an ancient elf that is worshipped by the Dalish . And Corypheus, the man who would be a god, who took control of a demon-like dragon. Dragons is serious business. I gotta go eat some food, but perhaps that's a good place to kick off a lore discussion!

I liked the Mage path better than I'm liking the Templars so far. And while Cole is definitely interesting, he's one of my least favorite companions. But never mind that. I love Bioware codexes to death, but I hadn't looked at them much with the first playthrough because I was invested in the rest of the experience. I do and did read every book and note I find, though. I really want to make an effort to get those mosaics, if they have what you're promising, but that's difficult. I have positively loved the revelations about Dalish history and mythology, what is 'right' and isn't, and how they've been tied into the main story.
I don't remember where exactly it comes up, I think in some of the ruins in the Emerald Graves or the Exalted Plains, and it's so out of the way that people could easily miss it, but there's a discovery that goes back to the genocide of the elves and recontextualizes the whole situation, which very subtly fits in well with the more obvious and major beats about what the elves and especially the Dalish have gotten wrong, with the Guardians in the Temple being the "original" elves, and Fen'Harel and Mythal being very much present but not quite fitting what elves had imagined.

How dare you talk smack about Cole! HOW DARE YOU. Spoilers in white because I couldn't find a spoiler tag.
Haha, I conceived my first playthrough as a worshipper of Mythal without knowing about Flemeth or Solas at all. She was a sword and board warrior devoted to protecting others so it just fit. Ah, serendipity.

So about Cole: This time I made him more spirit-like. He WAS way happier than human Cole - no anger, for instance. And his powers to help in the little ways he did were even stronger. The scene at the restaurant was interesting, with him flitting from person to person. He also gives you a bit more info about the fade, some insight about why spirits are so drawn to the physical world. But let me tell you, the whole thing made me super sad. I don't know what it is about these virtual people, but I just couldn't stand the thought of a Cole in my game being happy because he let go of humanity. All that potential, wasted. So I reloaded my save and let him eat from the tree of knowledge.

I don't know if anyone else had this happen, but last night Solas and Iron Bull started having a mental chess match as banter. It didn't go all the way, and I'm almost finished with my play through, so I don't think I'll hear the end of it. So I found it online! Enjoy! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ky19-1fuL2U

DAMN it, guys. A story's been kicking around in my head involving this world, and I fear I'll have to write it down or it will never leave me.
That's right. Inquisition is making me write fan fiction. Maker's breath. Fear for me.

I liked it, but it did this annoying thing where it ended. You should write more. Oh, there will be more. I have a habit of ripping through drafts of fan fiction when I write it, because I want it gone from my person as quickly as possible. It won't be the prettiest or cleanest story, but there will be more.
