Reminds me of this (and it’s actually a great book):

Huh, I had that book. Was a kind joke gift, but it is actually a humorous though helpful guide to outdoor life. I believe there is a section on avoiding ticks, which you definitely don't want up there. Another reason why I don't do camping - ass ticks.

Goddamn Estonians and their sock pattern cabal. Also: Murray, how many classy fox hunting fox portraits are there in the world? I didn't realize this was a thing until you brought it to light!

Sadly I have only one fox left in my collection of foxes in classy suits but I also found plenty of bears, badgers and.... deers : And I won't be using this one but I feel I need to share it :

That style of illustration seemed to be everywhere in the nineties! Speaking of which…

What makes this funnier is that Dick wrote some weird stuff, but nothing approaching a centaur with fists made of himself.

It's going to be hard to top Ray Bradbury...

What makes this funnier is that Dick wrote some weird stuff, but nothing approaching a centaur with fists made of himself. Hahahahahahaha! Hahahahahahahahahahahahaheeeheheheheheheeee! Oh my. *wipes away tear* I have to wonder if Sci Fi/Fantasy writers of the '70s/early '80s didn't dread the day their copy of their published book came in the mail. "Come on," they'd plead with the universe. "I'm sure the cover will accurately depict what I've written. No weird swirly death skulls on acid with melty faces, or like, griffons that are also women with golden bras and also with melty faces for some reason. It's a collection of short stories - one of them's about a small town ruined by a new road, for chrissakes! I'm sure there won't be - oh. Oh, fuck, no. Right. A centaur with body builders for arms. Yes, this definitely accurately depicts the stories within. Motherfucker."

Well, I guess if you believe in spellcraft, it WOULD be beneficial to have a step by step guide on how not to end up on the other end of a curse...

I once had an argument with a friend (one-sided, for I was pretty chill) about how I treat my books. Which is to say, poorly. When I read a book, I basically consume it - it is dog-eared, cracked-spine, floppy, wrinkled, warped from being laid down open, and may even have water damage from tub reading. She was incensed that I would be so careless with my books. I shrugged and said, "I don't care about the physical thing - it's the words inside that I want." This was an unacceptable response. She never loaned me another book again. Fair enough, I suppose.(FYI - I'm careful with loaned books. Library books and other people's books don't get this treatment.)

Karen Anderson takes you on a journey of love, loss and heartbreak in her first book, "Hear All Creatures, The Journey of an Animal Communicator". Travel with Karen down the path from when she first discovered her talents to the sudden and tragic accident that caused her to shut down her abilities for what she thought was for good...that is until a little white dove appeared and changed her life forever. Karen shares her successes and failures as she learns how to connect with the animals and translate their messages. Karen communicates with animals in the `here and now' as well as those on the Other Side. You never know what the animals will say or who they will bring through. Karen is also an evidential Medium, able to connect with our departed human loved ones with amazing accuracy who are on the Other Side.
