I'm so mad at myself for not setting up the DVR to record the first shows while I was away. At least I didn't miss the new The Daily Show.

I enjoyed the Trump interview but couldn't help thinking that he could and should have gone harder on Trump. The line he said about telling his kids about the interview one day was hilarious and the friendly tone, on the one hand, was somewhat refreshing but...I was disappointed he wasn't more pointed and acerbic.

I enjoyed the Trump interview but couldn't help thinking that he could and should have gone harder on Trump. I didn't expect him to though. I mean he told his audience to not boo Ted Cruz the night before - Colbert might throw a few hard questions in there, but rather gently done. (On the other hand, he almost tricked Trump into attributing a quote from Charlie Manson to himself - though the way Trump did very well at that game made me wonder if he didn't have a bit of behind the scenes prep for it.)

Yeah, but he was way harder on Cruz. I think The Guardian's article was pretty on-point.

Donald Trump was VERY good at that game.
Also: boo on CBS for the message "You are using an ad blocker, so we refuse to play this video at all."

Colbert was pretty soft on Trump, but I suspect it's because Colbert knows, despite Trump's current popularity, that he still has almost no actual shot at the GOP nomination, and that after all this is over, The Donald will be an entertaining guest for years to come. Cruz has almost no actual shot at the nomination, either, but he is a sitting US Senator, which means the questions should be a lot harder, even if he wasn't also Washington's #1 agent of chaos as well.
Anyone else notice that Colbert is now adding a quick joke about some current event right before the opening credits, just like he used to do right before the opening credits of the Report? What Report staple will show up next? Tek Jansen? A portrait? Prescott Pharmaceuticals?

MarkInTexas Colbert was soft on Jeb Bush, too. He can't all three have no shot at the nomination.

There was a segment a few days ago where I was so sure it was imminent...and then I remembered "TCR" was done.

Count on Colbert to name drop the Avignon Papacy.

The way that Colbert kisses the last cake topper is so funny that even he absolutely loses his shit with laughter.

I felt decidedly sanguine when PewDiePie showed up on Colbert, but then he got the guy from No Man's Sky. That was an incredible demonstration.

I don't even care about No Man's Sky and that sounds awesome. This show has already fallen from our must-watch list (just can't keep up), but I'm still recording it, and now I'm glad.
