Oh man, I *know* this illustration. Was it from an Omni magazine? A Heavy Metal? Just some book of sci-fi art I had in the 70s? ugh, google isn't really helping. I knew it from this book of sci-fi art which I had as a kid, and it utterly captivated me. It's full of those kind of future derelicts and little short stories describing the pictures in the style of a future archeologist and between the sense of wonder and loss they just... I dunno, really struck me in my feels place. I still find some of the images incredibly beguiling, and maybe just a little awe-inspiring too (that cover pic, with the wrecked craft and the cyclops skeleton, has in particular haunted me my whole life). Sorry if that sounds a bit overwritten, but I don't know how else to describe how those pictures affected me. Haunting, captivating and very lonely. And Google is indeed fuck all help searching. Use Bing!  |
