I was listening to The Adventure Zone yesterday and got irrationally angry at Griffin for not knowing what Otiluke's Resilient Sphere is.

I don't understand how y'all even begin to narrow this down enough to list it on a forum board.

Okay, well, I was just updating my account, and I just checked some of my stats, so I would have to say that a definite Great Moment in Personal Nerdery for me would be writing at least 346914 words of fanfiction.
I say "at least" because I know there are some floating around that I haven't moved to AO3 yet.

In 6th grade I wrote a 350 word book report on L. Ron Hubbard's 1,000 page behemoth "Battlefield Earth." Wait, that was not the nerdy part... The report was supposed to be 50 words and fit on a 3"X 5" index card. I wrote very tiny, managing three lines of text per line on the card. In a high school drafting class our final project was to build a bridge out of small sticks of wood that could hold 50 lbs. I convinced our librarian to buy a bridge design CD-ROM. Between my studies on that and several weeks of work my bridge held over 350 lbs. They were looking around for more weight to add to it when it finally collapsed. I beat the next closest kid by about 200 lbs. I will have to dig up my picture of that, it was pretty impressive. How much weight did the worst bridge in the class support?

One kid had this huge flimsy one that broke under 25 lbs. I think the teacher took pity on him and passed him anyway.

I just corrected starforge for misnumbering a Ferengi Rule of Acquisition. (He said "Expand or Die" was the 45 th Rule of Acquisition, but like everyone knows that was just a mistake that Enterprise made and the actual rule number is 95).

I get angry at podcast hosts for not knowing some esoteric piece of knowledge so often. Ugh, like when Travis didn't know who Andrew Johnson was. Not even that he'd also been impeached!

Look, I am ambivalent on Oxford commas and try to only use them when necessary, but that second comma is not the problem. You'd still have the same problem without it, in fact. You need two em dashes (—) there.
(Edit: the embedded tweet within the embed didn't show up, which is weird -- it's Mike Pence saying:
Our choice has never been more clear. We can either elect my running mate, a bold truth-teller, or the most dishonest candidate in history)

I got stuck in a wiki wormhole and found this chart comparing technology use by various Amish sects and while it's not comprehensive, it's really useful. And I want to save it for illustrative use. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Weaver_Amish

Today I showed up early to the Smithsonian to get good seats for the paleontology lecture but generously sat in the second row so that kids could sit in the front row.

Hey, my thread! Okay, here we go: I have attended a live performance of "wizard rock" band Harry and the Potters. It was held in the kids section of a Dallas public library.
