Cereals getting gross and soggy was a major issue for me as a kid. That's why I became a younger than normal fan of Grapenuts, which stayed reasonable solid no matter how much milk. Granted now I haven't had any sweet cereal in years. Once or twice a week I'll have cereal, but usually of the Kashi/Red Berry Special K variety. Grapenuts are awesome. I ate so much of that in college. We had a dining package which let us eat at our choice of cafeteria as often as we like, and no matter the time of day they always had a cereal bar with 12 options of cereal. I liked the cafeteria food alright and usually went through the line, but Girlfriend Snape did not like the food at all and practically lived off Cap'n Crunch for 3 years.

Haha, I remember those gigantic frosted mini-wheats. They sucked. I would break them into thirds. But then all that extra shred would soak up the milk and you basically had mush in the bottom of the bowl. If I eat mini-wheats now, I will pour a very scant bit of milk on top and eat 'em REAL quick so it doesn't turn to mush. Cereals getting gross and soggy was a major issue for me as a kid. Sounds like an elderly pick-up line. "Hey baby, can I serve you Grape Nuts for breakfast?" Exactly. If a partner is into both BDSM and Grape Nuts, they can be simultaneously bound and regular.

Yeah, I'm in the same camp where shitty sugary cereals were allowed, but we rarely bought them. The sweetest one we bought regularly was Honey Nut Cheerios, but I mostly subsisted on Cheerios on Shreddies. I actively disliked Froot Loops and the other crappy fruit-flavoured cereals. We had at one point in the early eighties picked up a box of Strawberry Shortcake cereal that was so vile even the neighbour's dog wouldn't eat it, and he ate everything.
We started getting more sugary cereals when I was a teenager, and for Chocolately-type cereal, Cocoa Pebbles were the best since they actually tasted slightly like chocolate. Cocoa Puffs were terrible and tasted more like a malted caramel or something weird.

I will vouch for Reese's cereal. The commercials promise your regular corn puff cereal that tastes like peanut butter cups, and it kind-of delivers. I don't think I ever ate it before I moved out; I will occasionally buy a box to surprise Wifemate (we live in such luxury).

I was never into breakfast, even as a kid. We never had sugary cereals around, sometimes we'd have Shreddies or Shredded Wheat or Wheatabix, but mostly no-name Cheerios or puffed wheat. I didn't like cold cereal in general - crunchy stuff in cold, powdered skim milk is not pleasant by any stretch. But I would get those little boxes while camping, and the Fruit Loops were always a disappointment. I think I did have Sugar Crisp once and liked it.
