MES generally do video game covers (which are amazing) but their pop song covers are really good too.

Technically a cover of Beck's Debra

Technically the more popular version is the cover, but this original of Down Under is pretty damned catchy. The 'remix' was obviously the right way to go, but this would have made an interesting bonus track

Auralnauts are awesome, and I will never pass up an opportunity to recommend all their star war related remix nonsense. It makes the prequels good, and may yet redeem the sequels. I will also never pass up an opportunity to mention that I hate IX more than any movie I've seen, except possibly Nothing But Trouble. But I didn't expect that to be good, so probably not.

Maybe not an improvement, depending on how you feel about Jim Steinman, but youtube music has definitely introduced me to a bunch of stuff I haven't heard before, including a bunch of Japanese covers of Steinman stuff (mostly from the Japanese version of Tanz der Vampire) music.youtube.com/watch?v=kDszFslrBW8This version of Out of the Frying Pan, Into the Fire predates Meatloaf's by a couple of years. And is shorter

I had no idea this existed before today, somehow. I love the original, and this one is pretty faithful -- but what it has that Del Shannon's doesn't is five of the most talented musicians of the 20th century singing harmony.

That's one of the covers where I forget it was originally someone else's song.

There's only one person playing all the girlfriends from the past, but I like this version

Four of the most talented musicians of the 20th century. And Jeff Lynne. Great cover though (I'm one of those weird Wilbury fans).

I think he's a talented producer and I like some of his music, but talent-wise, I'd probably feel very comfortable considering him the least gifted of the Wilburys.

I don't even think he's a good producer. Everything he produces sounds pretty much identical, and not in an, "I've got a signature sound" sort of way a la Phil Spector. He just only knows how to do one thing. Sorry. Just not a fan.

Every Lou Reed or Velvet Underground cover I have ever heard was an improvement on the original.

A Giant Dog cover Arcade Fire's "No Cars Go" improving on the original by getting rid of those crumb-bum basketball thieves and sex pests in Arcade Fire and also increasing the ramshackleness of the song 900 fold.

'Improve' in the very loosest sense of the word.

'Improve' in the very loosest sense of the word. Huh. His voice is a lot better than I expected - I was honestly waiting for it to go full Shatner, but he actually sang the song! The "grown-up version of the big romantic song in a 90s Disney movie that plays over the end credits while you're gathering up your stuff to leave" production values did make me giggle, though.

He's not bad, just odd production choices. Al Swearengen's Karaoke Hits!

Every Lou Reed or Velvet Underground cover I have ever heard was an improvement on the original. Okay, the Runaways cover of "Rock & Roll" might be the exception. The cover is okay but the original actually is better.
