I really wanted to have a deep fried mars bar while in Edinburgh but the couple places I saw advertising them during my visit seemed to be frying them in the same fryers they were doing industrial amounts of fish in and that didn't really appeal.

I don't know anyone who's tried it and I haven't dared to go near it (yet) to give a review of them but they do exist and I have seen them ordered in the wild. The main problem I have with it is that it'll be the kind of shitty frozen pizza that no amount of deep frying will be able to save. I'm scared to have the infamous deep fried mars bar (which I'm led to believe is basically the same as your Milky Way bars while our Milky Ways are your 3 Musketeers) because I suspect it'll be so good that I'll never be able to go back to a life of not eating them all the time. Deep fried candy bars are pretty serious business here in Texas, where you can find numerous versions cooked up at our annual State Fair. Though the most popular choice is probably the Snickers bar as opposed to the American Milky Way. It's also popular to deep fry any number of different packaged cookies in batter, and while Oreos are the most popular, deep fried Nutter Butters, which are a peanut butter sandwich cookie, are the best. Like, dangerously good.

I split one with my wife at the Irish pub in Downtown Disney a few years back. It's not bad, but it's texturally this weird amorphous blob and it's so rich you wouldn't want to eat more than about half of one.

My god! It's full of carbs! Traditionally served with good ol' fashioned fish 'n' chip shop style chips for a triple carb-bomb. If you wanted to really go for it you could put all of that between two slices of bread and get one carb for each chamber of the heart. Guys, my heart's stopped again. Can someone give me nudge?

Let me introduce to you, the macaroni cheese pie: It's so dense! Every bite has so many things going on.

Aye, I can see how that might be the case but I still have a hunch that I'd take to it immediately.

I had deep-fried Oreos once in my life, at the San Gennaro festival in NYC, about a dozen years ago. They were so much better than they had any right to be - crispy batter, gooey sweet soft insides. I don't even like cookies all that much and I still drool when I think about them.

Weirdly enough, the food I miss most is still the best bagels I've ever had...and they were found in central VA. I've been to NYC, before you accuse me of never having proper bagels. But Bodo's Bagels in Charlottesville, VA, remains the best bagel place I've ever been to. I never bite into a bagel anywhere else without feeling like it's just a ghost of what it could be.

I lived in NYC for two years, and honestly, the damn bagels aren't all that special. You're still more likely to get a sucky one than a good one thanks to the law of averages. The best bagels I've ever had are made fresh every morning by Bagel Works, in Hunt Valley, MD. I used to stop there a lot when I worked for PayPal, and then later because my best friends lived down the street - we'd go every Sunday for brunch on weekends I stayed over, because that had become their brunch place thanks to me. They've since moved about 25 minutes away and still try to go there when they can, and I love it when they take me with them, because I literally dream about their jalapeño bagels. They're so crisp on the outside, ever so slightly dense and soft on the inside, but marvelously chewy without making your jaw ache afterward.
