Curse you, Fashion Outlets! I went in for a LeSportsac makeup bag in the $20-$50 range and ended up spending more than 5x that on a Ted Baker/Karl Lagerfeld haul. My justifications include: I don't shop nearly as much as I used to and I do need to update my work wardrobe. Also hopefully this will curb my skincare/cosmetics spending, which I need to get in check. I think this is the result of frustration over not being able to take a vacation for another year and having to spend money on everybody/everything but myself lately. Anyway, my acquisitions include: a tweed jacket with frayed trim that matches some Ann Taylor flats I've been holding onto, matching black tweed skirt, four work tops (black ruffle shell, pale pink blouse, b&w blouse, sweater with pearl trim), a silly pink cardigan, and two more black skirts because I'm a crazy person who wears lots of black. I also got a colorful and pretty off-the-shoulder top on clearance at Worth, a store I really only patronize because they employ people with disabilities. I noticed that Ted Baker seems to be favored by Eastern Europeans, whereas Chinese tourists are into Karl Lagerfeld. A Korean friend once noted that her people were really into Club Monaco, which got me to wondering about South Asians. I know Super Dry is pretty popular, along with sporty brands like Hollister. Retail marketing is fascinating...

So eshakti sent me an email for a buy 1 get 2nd for 70% off plus free customization so....
I got this dress with slightly longer sleeves and raised the hem to knee length and this dress design in this dress fabric for less than $100. I like the 2nd dress in the dark blue, but cotton poplin fabric gets shiny streaks when you iron it. I should probably turn the heat setting down, but chambray seems to hold up well. I hope everything fits.
I was thinking of doing something with this print. I like everything about this third dress except the flouncy-ness at the bottom and the lack of pockets.

The sheer number of options on eshakti can get overwhelming, but I like your selections. I especially like that third print, with the same cut on top and just a straight pencil length skirt (I do love my shift dresses). You can't customize pockets, though, can you?

Unfortunately no, you can't add pockets. There is a plain shift dress in the Customization page with possible similar options for the high neckline and sleeve, but the fabric is too shiny to be a wear to work dress....or is it?

I don't recall when I purchased a gray woolen infinity scarf from Muji, but I was delighted to find it - never worn - in the coat closet today. Also: I do not know how to wear a beret, but I am wearing one anyway.

I blame all the 1970s TV my mom’s been watching for this unfortunate—but very comfortable—experiment.

Earlier this week I also fell asleep in a cafe and when I woke up there were two women across from me in white cable knits, which was vaguely surreal.

More surreal than brandishing a chicken? [note to self: be on the lookout for a chicken-shaped handbag to coordinate with knits]

I need a shirt that says "Head to Toe in Uniqlo" because I totally am, and it is actually not bad. Not bad at all. Maybe Uniqlo makes one...

Seriously, you have to order it online, but their big size stuff is the only non-import brand here that fits me right AND is reasonably priced AND also is in style. Seriously, there is a big and tall store here that should basically be called, "bring a couple hundred dollars for the imported American clothes, or be prepared to dress like 65 year old on vacation in 1985, ya sumo! I don't care that you have a job or like to go out in public occasionally!"

I have a mighty need for this, but I don't read Japanese, and they probably don't make sizes in USAan fatassery.

It looks like the large dress shirt, the largest size, is roughly a 16.5 neck and 33inch sleeve, so it looks comparable to a US large however I didn't check any of the other measurements provided and if you are larger than the US large, you are pretty much SOL. Also, the commercial is supposed to be happy, but it is really existentially bleak. It basically says "Walk like you did in that sunny time of your life."

OK, I do read Japanese and just the other night I got the Jigglypuff song in my head (I love me some Jigglypuff aka Purin), so I clicked on the webpage to check out the design. It's a very cute pink gingham pattern, so I'm tempted. I also have to share the translation that chrome attempted:

My 10 year old Uggs have a hole in them. While I may get them fixed as backups, I just ordered new winter boots from Lands End and between an end of season sale, a discount code and a gift card I paid $4.50 for them.

Continuing with a theme, the BareTrap shooties (I hate that term, but I guess that's what they are) that I've loved for about 5 years are finally meeting their end. I've worn holes in them several times and it no longer seems worth it to repair them. So I have ordered new ones. I saw them on Zappos, then realized instead of trying to remember my Zappos login I could just order them on Amazon, and lo and behold, they were $7 cheaper on Amazon. But here they are: www.zappos.com/p/lifestride-adley-whiskey/product/9127335/color/718edit: so I looked them back up on Zappos and last night they were $49 but today they are $28 are you freaking kidding me. Sigh.

I went a little mad and bought 13 pairs of $1 undies from Shop Miss A, along with some beauty tools (makeup brushes, cotton pads, etc.). I have a problem.

I think it's time for me to break down and spend whatever I need to to get a good, well-made, properly tailored, lightweight, summer-in-Florida sport coat. I have to dress up just often enough when it's 90+ out that it's worth the investment. But no one appears to be selling them, yet, and I'm not really certain where to go as is.

Let's put it this way, if you pull off the large scratchy size tag on the side seam, it leaves a hole. So I'm just not going to do that and I will enjoy colorful undies with unicorns until I am out of my 30s! If I rotate all 63 pairs in my current inventory to minimize washes, some of these might make it into 2020, OR I could just by MORE cheap undies to extend the life of THESE...

Unfortunately, none of those places are in town (one of my problems), but there's a Brooks Brothers and a J Crew in Jacksonville, where my parents live, so I plan a trip next time I'm over there.
