On old lady with snow white hair, leaning out of a moving car window, whooping and holding up a sign reading "Class of 63".

Looking out the window I saw that the mourning doves have returned and were enjoying our yard. A very specific part of the yard, the part where the dog likes to poop
...they were eating the dog poop

On a drive through the Mohawk Valley and southern Adirondacks to go hiking I decided to play a 2016 in that part of the state version of "I Spy" counting all the Trump lawn signs I saw. Over the course of a little under 100 miles (much of it through sparsely populated parklands) I spotted 44. The most original one was possibly homemade and it read "DEPLORABLES FOR TRUMP".
The hike itself was to a fire tower (basically a big open air stairwell that used to be used by Park Rangers, but now is used for better views for hikers). Once you get to to top of these towers there's usually a ton of fairly benign graffiti from teens and young adults that have been hiking. I saw a landmarked TRUMP, where a follow-up tagger crossed out the T and wrote "My dick would make a better President". Can't say I disagree anonymous hiker.

The second day of snow this season.
Also my bulldog, given the choice to go anywhere along a wide gravel path running beside my house, takes a dump right in our lamium (dead nettles).

Today I saw two cars plugged into the local Tesla charging station. It's the first time I've actually seen anybody using them.

I got to pet an enormous friendly golden retriever. He ran around in circles and bopped me with his tail.

Whilst strolling by some sort of outboard motor emporium down the street from my home (for some reason), I spied this fellow in the front window. Paddington?

The moon this morning! It was epic! Yesterday's storm clouds were breaking up and scuttling away, and were marine gray against the sky juuuuust at the start of dawn. And then the sky itself was somehow straddling shades of indigo and robin's egg, and was ridiculously luminous. In a break in the clouds, as I was walking out of the gym this morning, was this razor-sharp sliver of moon, glowing brightly and framed perfectly in that sky.
I am not a morning person AT ALL, and I deeply resent how early I have to be at the gym on Friday. Especially this time of year, when it's still dark when I'm leaving. But today? Today I was pleased to have seen the beautiful sky.

It's a brisk 34 degrees, so today I saw my breath. It was like smoking cigarettes but without all the cancer.

A box turtle on our deck by the front door. (GF took it out to the woods and turned it loose before the dogs saw it) Bunch of deer. 3 in the field across the road from the house this morning, another running right past my mailbox, and later, 2 more almost in my front seat when they ran in front of me when I was doing 70 on the interstate.
