In about a month, I'm going to post a review of a 2001 feature that was based on a short. It was called On the Line.

Lights Out definitely should NOT have been expanded.

Mama was a short film before a feature I believe and the short was focused on the cabin stuff iirc, I have not seen the short, but the cabin stuff was easily the only good stuff in the film.

Obvious Child was a solid short that I first saw it in 2010 or so. I believe I saw it linked off Pandagon, touted as a good romantic comedy centered on abortion. My 5-cent synopsis: woman gets dumped, hooks up with guy from a bar, gets pregnant because the "NYC condom drunkenly grabbed from the bar fishbowl" broke, runs into the guy while walking to the clinic, lets him accompany her, and hangs out while she recovers. He calls it "the best worst date ever".
I didn't see the full-length from last year which also starred Jenny Slate, but I'll get to it.
