I'd prefer to work in my office. But only if no one else is there. I can't afford my Summer electric bills.

I would have put this in the "Both Surprising and Unsuprising" headline thread. Because it is both true, and also surprising that any US media source would actually make that truth the headline.

President Trump tried to register to vote in Florida using an out-of-state address
It should be surprising that the Chief Administrator of the USA is literally trying to commit voter fraud, but well, you know.

"Look, dammit, I said there was going to be voter fraud, and so there's gonna be voter fraud!"

"Chicago Cops Burglarized U.S. Rep’s Office as Protest Raged. They Made Popcorn, Drank Coffee, Napped" (I know the source kinda sucks, but verified by more reputable outlets. Beast def has best headlines tho.)
I should be surprised but the Chicago boys in blue ran a blacksite where they disappeared 7000 people (https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/oct/19/homan-square-chicago-police-disappeared-thousands). The Good Fight apparently has a few episodes on this but I don't need a new streaming service. Not to mention them torturing hundreds into false confessions (https://www.themarshallproject.org/2018/10/30/payback). ACAB

I mean, clearly wearing a mask negates the whole concept of nudism. Also: Beaver County amirite.

While I think this is completely ridiculous (and thus on brand for her) I'm way more distressed by the comments that are accompanying this story on social media, the usual onslaught of fish market jokes, though some take it to extremes and throw in things like rotting dairy, cum socks, etc. Can we laugh at her silliness without turning into a bunch of misogynistic trolls? Apparently that's a challenge for some. And we're back. Today lots of headlines saying Paltrow releasing a candle scented with neroli, grapefruit and Turkish rose among other things. Wait, my mistake, that doesn't drive clicks. what they did say is Paltrow is releasing a candle that "smells like her orgasm" with no other context. And of course the candles will sell out, and of course she'll make more money on them than she did on her last movie, and of course there's going to be thousands of comments on articles and social media everywhere taking said headline at face value, not reading the actual details, expressing disgust (with lots of vomiting GIFs naturally) and making comments like "I'd rather smell a meatpacking plant after 3 days with no power" followed by "I bet it's the same!" (both of those almost verbatim) and god dammit why are people so damn stupid, and why are they forcing me to feel like I almost have to defend her? Other than that today wasn't a complete shitshow.

Microsoft is permanently closing its retail storesAt the Florida Mall, the Microsoft store was right next to the Apple store. There would be a line of people waiting to get into the Apple store sometimes. But I never saw the Microsoft store with more customers than employees, and that includes when I was browsing in the store.
