What are y'alls?
This is mine, but keeping in mind that I haven't seen the new Star Wars (to be honest even though I'm sure I'll really like it I doubt it'd make it in) and I can't see Paterson until January. That one might get edited in once I get to see it.
1. Moonlight 2. Green Room 3. Arrival 4. La La Land 5. Manchester By the Sea 6. O.J.: Made in America 7. The Nice Guys (it was fun!) 8. Midnight Special 9. Sing Street 10. 13th

I have a list, but I'm not prepared to answer this question until I see Rogue One, Silence, Live by Night, or several films I missed earlier in the year. Will get back.
EDIT: unless I see a new favorite movie of the year, #1 will be very controversial!

Things from this year I have seen in the theater so far, ranked by my interest in watching them again: 1. Deadpool 2. Dr. Strange 3. Captain America: Civil War 4. X-Men: Apocalypse 5. Hail, Caesar! 6. Ghostbusters 7. Finding Dory
Sad but true. Rogue 1 has a good chance at the top 3. But I did just win a huge TV and bought a projector for Wifemate for Christmas, so my home viewing is about to get even better.

UK dates, sort of 1. The Son Of Joseph 2. Things To Come 3. Staying Vertical 4. Aquarius 5. Sweet Bean 6. Toni Erdmann 7. The Neon Demon 8. Moonlight 9. Elle 10. Arabian Nights
If you want to replace the three non US 2016 ones with some that are, Right Now Wrong Then, Mia Madre, and Dirty Grandpa are finding their way somewhere on there.

Also I don't think I saw 10 films this year that I would honestly recommend to anyone.
1. Arrival 2. Swiss Army Man 3. The Witch (wide release Feb. 2016, I'm counting it)
I would like to see La La Land, Rogue One, and Moonlight before any final analysis is made.

With the disclaimer that I’m seeing Toni Erdmann this afternoon and I’ve missed seeing a tonne this year (might see if I can catch another tomorrow):
1. Elle 2. Manchester-by-the-Sea 3. Arrival 4. The Nice Guys [I’d put Carol here but it was a 2015 release that I was lame and waited until January to see] 5. Popstar: Never Stop Stopping 6. Avril & le monde truqué 7. Hail, Caesar!
I saw a few more films, but after this it becomes more an “list of films I saw that were okay” than a “best films of the year” list.
One I’m pissed I totally missed was The Red Turtle, whose LA release coincided neatly with my time away from home when I was visiting family and whose release in family-visiting cities started right after my return.

Revised now that I’ve seen Toni Erdmann:
1. Elle 2. Toni Erdmann—seriously lives up to the hype—it’s the nearly three-hour long goofy German comedy you didn’t know you had to see 3. Manchester-by-the-Sea 4. Arrival 5. The Nice Guys [I’d put Carol here but it was a 2015 release that I was lame and waited until January to see] 6. Popstar: Never Stop Stopping 7. Avril & le monde truqué 8. Hail, Caesar!
Also The Red Turtle is coming back (I must have just missed its artsy-fartsy preview release) so we’ll see if it makes it onto the 2017 list.

Going with Irish dates. Slightly revised from a list I posted on twitter after further thought - Best Of film lists don't come easily to me in part because of the date differences - having to remember the movies from early 2016 that got lumped in 'best of 2015' and so on, and then double checking if the film came out in 2016 or if you were just lazy about getting to it (that's also me and Carol, which otherwise would absolutely be here.) 1. The Hunt for the Wilderpeople* 2. The Hateful Eight 3. Hail Caesar 4. Arrival 5. Hell or High Water 6. Your Name 7. Train to Busan 8. High Rise 9. Chi-Raq 10. The Assassin * It came down to this and Hateful Eight for me for a long time (Hateful Eight was the one film I saw twice in theatres this year - first in regular release, then, months later, finally, the 70mm print came), the Tarantino film is a masterfully paced film that's like a chamber drama murder mystery of ultraviolence, but the Hunt for the Wilderpeople is just so goddamn funny and heartbreaking and other words. Jean-Luc Lemur I am so looking forward to April and the Extraordinary World. That's March here, I believe.

I haven't seen enough movies this past year, but from what I've seen I loved Arrival the most. Gorgeous movie. I'm pretty fond of Midnight Special too.
From the big franchises, I moderately liked X-Men Apocalypse.
