Prior to today, I thought of E.Buzz as a person with some problems that led to his death. Now I think of him as a person with problems, but still alive. Despite the inappropriateness of him to using someone else's image that way, I am oddly relieved. And just as before, I hope he is able to get the help he needs. You're a better man than I, Doc. I had always thought of Buzz as a fucking whiny asshole, and then I felt guilty about feeling that way after the "suicide." So, I'm just selfishly glad that I don't have to carry around that modicum of guilt anymore. Also, Doc and I can verify one another's existence. |

Yeah, he was posting at AVC about all the pop culture stuff way before any of this weird personal stuff with Opera Punk became a thing. He was one of the most memorable commenters on the AVC! This is just too weird. PS. I am also real. I swear! Though, you might have to come to Phoenix to verify that. Sorry. E. Buzz Miller was honestly one of the reasons I stopped lurking all those years ago. He was knowledgeable about random pop culture nonsense and funny and not a dick. He was the kind of commentator who makes you want to join in the conversation. Also since this seems to be the E. Buzz Miller/OperaPunk/Prove You Are Real Human Being thread, Celebith met me in Seoul last fall. There's a picture of us on the meet up thread. I'm still completely let down that you have not a single thing to do with the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory. I believed in you! |

Sluggoโs approach with alt accounts was also differentโmade no bones about himself being Sluggo. Unless he was using a separate IP account for E. Buzz and Opera_punk they would have had their accounts swept up whenever his IP was banned, too, as happened with me and Flag_Bearer. And Sluggo, by his own account, got around IP bans by just posting by mobile and having his IP reset itself whenever he turned airplane mode on and offโhe really didnโt put a lot of thought into it. Anyway hereโs Sluggoโs confession, and hereโs a list of all the Sluggos. Also worth noting that Sluggo isnโt the only person to come up with this ideaโโCore Conceptโ here was a Fatman account. Oof. I read the confession, I don't know whether to feel sorry for him or laugh at him. It sounds like something I would have written in high school when I was fronting an "underground newspaper". The fact that it's written by an adult, and borrows so heavily from Fight Club as to be almost a reboot, makes me cringe. |

So, having gotten over the shock and then depressed feeling that someone put this much time and effort into fooling so many people, I went over to the obit at TOC. It's heartbreaking how earnest and open people are being there (including some in this thread) up to and including talking with Operapunk and having what seemed at the time to be genuine moments of connection with another human presumably in pain. Sucks that it was all completely based on a mirage.

To repeat my reaction from Pop Culture Weekend, shiiiiiiiiiit. This is unreal. Thanks to Del for pointing me over. My sympathies to anyone who interacted closely with either persona (and especially the lady whose photos were stolen), though my feelings honestly tend a little more towards LizAndDick's and Smacky's. For my part, I can't say I ever suspected either of them of being fake. That said, while I found the drama easy enough to ignore when it got overbearing, I did notice Buzz had the habit of repeating opinions others had already stated during the discussion in a more general (and often less interesting) way, which was a weird (if very minor) annoyance that really didn't land with me until I saw that it kept happening. This certainly didn't imply what we now know, but it stuck with me to the extent that this maybe isn't as surprising as it should be, if that makes any sense. FWIW, I've personally met Danson With Myself (who posts mostly at the Avocado), who's met Harvey Dent (who posts all over the Avocado), who's met, I believe, Mindymoo and FrancineHibiscus. And Franko once sent me a teleplay he'd been working on via the actual postal service, not email, and we talked about it over the latter. Also glad to hear you've got a load off, Douay-Rheims-Challoner , for whatever reason. |

This is crazy. Like, totally cuckoo bananas crazy. Many things over the past year have made me doubt the sanity of the universe, but this has effortlessly leaped into the number one spot.
Also: I am real, but nobody here can vouch for that. I have used this moniker on other websites in the past and met people from them IRL, so make of that what you will.

If we're verifying reality, I can tell you that I'm mostly real, but ๐ช silly buns is a construct of our collective consciousness that makes surprisingly good actual Shepard's pie. ganews I'm shakey about, but his wife is real and delightful, tho the brain jar she carries around must get heavy. Sorry to jump into this thread with a silly joke and nothing else, but much has been said already. This is so weird and twisted and sad and perplexing. And, as others have said, how did they have so much free time? When I first started getting into the comments section and learning who E Buzz Miller was, I barely had time to read the AVC, let alone post on it regularly in multiple personas.
I, too, think the saddest aspect of this is that Miss Anthropy's real death got sickly, cruelly parodied by this stupid hoax.
