Sanziana I was only just reading an essay in a past number of NLR about City of Sadness, etc. Richard III seems to be becoming something of a personal holiday tradition.

Daughters of the Dust, the movie which was remembered because of Beyonce. It is a stunning looking movie.

That first picture is horrific Lord Lucan. I know it's a movie, but those poor horses! Never watched a movie by Guy Maddin, but something tells me this is not a good one to start with. Suggestions?

That first picture is horrific Lord Lucan . I know it's a movie, but those poor horses! Never watched a movie by Guy Maddin, but something tells me this is not a good one to start with. Suggestions? It’s phantasmagoric! That’s his best known one, I believe. I wouldn’t mind seeing how “Cowards Bend the Knee” is, but can’t recommend it at least until then.

I enjoyed "The Saddest Music in the World". It's sad in places, of course, and doesn't always make any literal sense, but it does feature Isabella Rossellini with two glass legs full of beer.

A Room with a View. The only thing that has stuck with me since I've seen this movie years ago is how incredibly young and beautiful Helena Bonham Crater is in it.

Sanziana I also can’t get over how…um… Cecil-ish Daniel Day-Lewis could get.
