Specifically, I'm going with pine nuts when they're ground up and combined with basil, olive oil and Reggianio. Pecans make better pesto than pine nuts #justsayin' This is very true.

There's a brewpub in Kansas that does sunflower pesto, which ends up being pretty delicious.

My go-to pesto, which I like better than any basil-pine nut pesto, is: Arugula Pecans, lightly toasted Garlic Parmesan, the good stuff Olive oil Salt Red pepper flakes I would often make this with walnuts back before we had the allergic Baby Snape, but pecans are really great in this.

Whenever I have basil growing, yes, but otherwise no, because I'm perfectly happy with just arugula and that way I don't have to buy another thing. It is good with basil too, though.

I have said this before, but the reason pistachios have shells is to keep people from choking to death from eating them too quickly.
Pistachios are my favourite. Not just on their own, but also in deserts like halvah or baklava. Walnut's are fine in bakalava or baked goods (or candied and used for things like toppings), but on their own they're just kind of meh. And almonds, those smokehouse almonds are like crack.
All this nut talk, now I want to make a groundnut soup.

You know when I think about it, probably 80% of the "out of hand" walnuts I've consumed were frozen. When frozen, the buttery fat of walnuts really shines, and it's just the best thing. I wonder if that has skewed my vote. I also love frozen pecans, but have not tried any other frozen nuts. Maybe I should.

When I eat pecans out of hand it's almost always frozen, and seriously, freezing does wonders for a soft, buttery nut. Which totally has me wondering now, too, why I haven't tried it with others. I bet frozen macadamias are amazing...

Okay then. Next bag of bulk walnuts is going in the freezer.
I just made a banana and walnut smoothie. It's like drinking chilled pancake batter and I mean that in the best way possible.

Pecan is the king of all the nuts.
I can't remember being so young that I couldn't eat pecans by throwing the shells against a brick wall and picking out the meat.

Because Cheetos are far and away the best chip-like product. They're fine, but they give you a Cheeto fist when you eat them. Walnuts are also fine, but give you a dusty walnut paw if you eat more than one or two of them.

Wow, all this pecan love, I didn't see it coming. I've only had them by themselves a few times and don't remember being blown away. I usually associate pecans with baked goods (pie, sticky buns) and as such they don't stand out on their own to me too much. I guess I'll have to give them another try when I have the opportunity.

I've already taken to eating Cheetos the Korean way (with a pair of disposable wooden chopsticks).

How are hazelnuts not higher on this list?
That said pecans are a strong second. Just wish they weren't so damn pricy.
Almonds are an acceptable cheaper substitute. They are especially good wedged in a fig.
90-someodd % of the time pistachios are great. I grew up eating those as my grandma worked for a pistachio importer (Persian Jews that got economically kneecapped by the Revolution and ensuing embargos). But the ones sold at Aldis should be avoided at all costs. Those have an extremely off taste.
