I will turn tricks on street corners for those fruit slices. I love every single thing about them -- each of the flavors, the mess of sugar crystals generated when you eat them, the crunchiness of the rinds and the gelee quality of the gummi part that make it so there are distinct regions when nibbling them, and the way it all mashes up together perfectly when you eat them quickly. There is an olde-tyme ice cream & candy shoppe about a mile and a half from my house, and they're kind of my only consistent source of fruit slices. They sell them in tiny bags of maybe 12 slices each. I don't often go in there (I have to exercise SOME measure of self-control), but when I do I invariably end up buying some. And will manage, in the five-minute drive home, to eat an entire bag of them. Boomer also loves them, and I'm pretty sure she does the same thing: "Hey, I got us a treat at [ice cream shoppe] today! I got three-- no, er, I mean, two bags of fruit slices!" |

I will say that one of my favorite things about the homeland of Tellyfier is that there are dedicated gummy candy shops fucking EVERYWHERE. Gummies of every flavor! Vegan gummies that don't make you consciously ignore the source of the gelatin! Surprisingly good coffee gummies sold in faux Starbucks cups! Beer flavored gummies served in pint glasses! Faux pizzas made of gummies that you can bring to parties or the office! Giant bags of aptly named 'vacation mix' that will last you a whole week of everyone picking at it while you travel around! It's fucking great. |

FRUIT SLICE goddamnit, the kind that're tossed in crunchy sugar. Best of all gummis.
The official ranking is grapefruit (if you're lucky) > orange > lemon > lime > cherry > grape > any other bullshit flavors like mint, ffs.
Oddly enough the only two gummies I like are the spearmint slices and orange slices in that order. I do not like gummies or really any "frooot" flavored candies though so I'm clearly out of step with the rest of this thread. |
