Trying to find a new bed frame with headboard, that looks nice and will not break in 6 months (based on Wayfair reviews). I am torn between getting a platform bed (that does not require a box spring) and a standard frame.
Any req's for this kind of purchase. I didn't want to spend more than $600, and wanted something like this...

Do you already have the mattress? Is it currently on a frame? Unless you're buying a solid wood furniture set, you can generally buy just a headboard - the standard metal frame and mattress are frequently sold together. For an upholstered headboard like that, there are a lot of sub-$600 options (I'm currently browsing Value City Furniture just to see).

The foundation and metal frame are almost $400. I was hoping to just get a really good mattress and then buy a decent bedframe (and possible metal frame) from somewhere else.

We had a bedframe thrown in with purchase with our last mattress (which also included the box spring), so we never got around to buying a headboard separately. But you can buy a basic metal bed frame for under $100, not sure about box springs. Maybe check local discount furniture stores, if you have a Value City or Bob's near you? Sorry I'm not more help

One note of caution: I bought a Zinus metal bed frame for my son because the reviews were good, it was affordable, said to be sturdy, etc ... and it lasted less than a year before bending and breaking. But keep in mind that my 16-yr-old is not gentle with anything and probably threw himself into it every night as hard as he could. Now he sleeps on a box-frame/mattress combo on the floor.
