Feeling extra optimistic, so here's a place to compile our wish list for 2021. Anything is possible, people! For starters: - A vaccine or inoculation for COVID-19 is developed
- At least one member of Trump's family and one member of his Cabinet go to jail
- Maroon 5 ceases to record music

Health and dental insurance that is not tied to employment.
All those no good motherfuckers who helped Trump and McConnell better lose their jobs, and be held accountable for what they did. That includes legal action and for people to shut them out of social circles. I don't even want to see them on Dancing with the stars.

I'm actually forbidden from saying what the thing I'm most excited for in 2021 even is at the moment. Let's just say that should this come to fruition it'll be quite good for me personally in terms of employment, and possibly significant for a community of AV Club expats.

And get them lawyers to sue the fuck out of the Trump Administration if they don't have them already. The International Criminal Court should bring up charges against Stephen Miller, Kirstin Nielsen (or whatever the fuck she was called) and whoever at DHS oversaw that shit. |

Once the Secretary of Transportation isn't Mitch McConnell's (heir to a Chinese shipping fortune) wife, I'd like to have those border wall funds diverted to infrastructure projects, including high-speed rail across the 'blue wall' states for Joe's victory ride :-)

I'm not even going to talk about politics or pandemic, because obviously.
I want to be able to go, and for all my colleagues in the field to go, to my big conference in-person in Philadelphia in June. Just like a normal year. It's a major highlight every year, the best science and the most fun, something I can rely on and have attended every year since 2007. Like Christmas except it's with friends and people I would choose to be around. I actually want this even more than a foreign vacation or an in-person concert right now.

One thing about a field of science with such expensive equipment is that the corporate giveaways are proportionally bigger. The hospitality suites go until 11 or 12, before the afterparties. (I have long said I don't have the liver to be a salesman.) After a week of late nights and business meetings the start at 7:30 am you need some recovery time. |

I want to visit Berlin again!
I always go around September/October just by myself. Usually I spent most of the time sitting in my favourite café, drinking wine and writing. Pretentious? Well, maybe just a scoche. But it's always been a necessary release valve and I've really missed it this year so I want it back!
Also, independence of course.

I want to be able to travel again, both domestically for fun and abroad for work(and fun when my coworkers aren't bothering me).
I still need to take my two babies (now toddlers) to meet their relatives in the US.
A new job would be nice. Maybe something remote with a foreign company.
