Madam, you have bereft me of all words. Only my blood speaks to you in my veins.

Keith Baxter as Hal/Henry V and Orson Welles as Falstaff in the rejection scene of Chimes At Midnight - my pick for best Shakespeare film.

Onto the vexed question of what Shakespeare actually looked like. There's surprisingly little to go on, but maybe enough. This is the engraving by Martin Droeshout, used on the 'cover' of the First Folio. Fellow playwright Ben Jonson, who knew Shakespeare, approved of the likeness. And this is the sculpture in his local church. It was unveiled after his death, but Shakespeare - it's now thought - knew the sculptor and commissioned it himself. Plus his wife and son-in-law were still alive, so perhaps had some input into it. In short, he looked like absolute shit. Just terrible.

Ariel shows off the 'water nymph' disguise in an RSC production of The Tempest from 1946.

This island's mine, by Sycorax my mother, Which thou takest from me. When thou camest first, Thou strokedst me and madest much of me, wouldst give me Water with berries in't, and teach me how To name the bigger light, and how the less, That burn by day and night: and then I loved thee And show'd thee all the qualities o' the isle, The fresh springs, brine-pits, barren place and fertile: Cursed be I that did so! All the charms Of Sycorax, toads, beetles, bats, light on you! For I am all the subjects that you have, Which first was mine own king: and here you sty me In this hard rock, whiles you do keep from me The rest o' the island.

Then should the warlike Harry, like himself, Assume the port of Mars; and at his heels, Leash'd in like hounds, should famine, sword and fire Crouch for employment.

For night's swift dragons cut the clouds full fast, And yonder shines Aurora's harbinger; At whose approach, ghosts, wandering here and there, Troop home to churchyards: damned spirits all, That in crossways and floods have burial, Already to their wormy beds are gone.

The bay-trees in our country are all wither'd And meteors fright the fixed stars of heaven; The pale-faced moon looks bloody on the earth And lean-look'd prophets whisper fearful change.
- Richard II
