It looks like the DC Comics Cinematic Universe is underway, with Batman v. Superman set to blow the universe wide open in March 2016, and Suicide Squad getting an official cast, not to mention tons of movies planned for the universe between now and 2020. And now here's a place where we can discuss this ever growing universe! Here's the Suicide Squad cast, by the by, for those who need a refresher: landofthenerds.blogspot.com/2014/12/full-suicide-squad-cast-with-tom-hardy.html

Just give me a Vertigo Movie Universe: bring Ryan over as Conjob, start with a Swamp Thing/American Gothic film (or Del Toro's Justice League Dark as long as they don't sodding call it that), use that to introduce the rest of the fun folks: follow with Zatanna, Deadman et al. And of course tie it into the Sandman film.

This universe's version of Aquaman has been revealed! Boy do these Batman v. Superman characters like to scowl.

As I mentioned on AV Club, Mamoa looks like that all the time in his daily life, they just happened to shoot a photo of him while he was walking in front of a large black window.

Where's Aquaman's orange fish-scale shirt and green dishwashing gloves? Why isn't he blond, or at least played by Vincent Chase?

Sad news; Michelle Maclaren has departed the Wonder Woman movie.

Uggh, just read a comment about how Wonder woman doesn't deserve a movie, and that over the years adding a "feminist" element to WW has been stupid and failed. All because WW's origins was that of a bondage victim. Because you know, trying to change something for the better is dumb and should never happen.
It isn't like superman or batman has drastically changed. Like superman only being able to leap tall bounds or batman using guns.

@taxman Bondage aside wasn't the character specifically created as this one guy's weirdly specific feminist vision about how women were naturally superior, enjoyed bondage? And even I know Batwoman was created solely to give Bruce Wayne a case of the Not-Gays, so I guess the revamping of the character later on made sense.

I know it will still make a squillion dollars, but it's just amazing how every step of this movie has been the wrong one. >After complaints of MoS being too grim and gritty, let's double down on that and make an entire franchise out of the colors blue, gray, and black >A movie with Batman, Superman, and Lex Luthor? Too crowded you say? Well what if we cram the entire rest of the Justice League into it also? >Let's also so transparently ape the marvel cinematic universe strategy, only let's rush it, and start with the equivalent of the Avengers movie, then work backwards into spinoffs. Oh, and also let's suck all the joy out it. >Let's launch teaser on the same day as the teaser for an even more anticipated movie that's coming out sooner

Think about that awesome tracking shot in the Avengers showing each hero kicking ass during the final battle. I didn't even grow up on Marvel, and yet it still fulfilled a childhood fantasy I didn't even know I had. Meanwhile, I've followed Batman and Superman at the movies since I was a kid, always wanted a movie with them together, and I'm finally getting it, and yet I have less than zero interest in it so far.

As a non-comic book fan, I get that DC and WB are trying to be different from the Marvel movies, and I know that nearly everyone thinks The Dark Knight (and, to a lesser extent, Batman Begins) is pretty awesome, but I'm trying to understand the need to make everything in the DC movie universe so dark and grim. Doesn't everyone love how much fun the Marvel movies are? Aren't the DC shows on the WB pretty light-hearted, relatively speaking? I don't expect to see Batman and Superman skipping merrily through a field of daisies, of course, but I do think that "I'm going to make you bleed!" or whatever that line was seems rather jarring.

Well Kelly is a DC fan: That would make sense that Kelly would prefer DC, given conservatives' hatred of "liberal" Disney and of Marvel's general recent progressiveness. Also, out of curiosity, is the real guy who does the Kelly comics actually named Kelly? Does he actually look anything like the cartoon cartoonist Kelly?

Not sure how I feel about the Joker's new look: He definitely looks less terrible here than he does shirtless with a billion tattoos as some sort of amalgam of every single one of the shittiest trends in villain character design of the past fifteen years.

Roy Batty's Pet Dove There is a real cartoonist behind Kelly but that's not his name, appearance or outlook (I've seen his 'normal' comics and he's the kind of liberal who finds Hilary too conservative.)

Oh, I knew the Kelly persona was totally insincere and a satire of conservative political cartoonists. I just didn't know if his real name was Kelly. Are his "normal" comics funny?

Roy Batty's Pet Dove Not really. I think he's a lot better as Kelly, when the point is how ridiculous the comic is; when he's doing the same thing but 'straight' it just seems more regularly unfunny. Here's a random Ward Sutton (his real name) comic for comparison.
