I've lived in both the US and Canada and have never heard of it until like the last couple of weeks. I still know nothing, just came here to say
I don't even own a Shake Shack.

Well, it's not a borough.
Also, I already explained it MPC, in the shoutbox. Just for that I'm leaving a link, but not activating it. -https://www.shakeshack.com/

Well, it's just a little shack, and it's made out of wood. Their espresso coffee tastes mighty good... never mind, wrong shack.

Explain "Shake Shack." I am English. It's a regional hamburger chain. The reason it's so famous is that its particular region is New York City, so a lot of media types love it. Shake Shack is not too different from many other US regional burger chains, including Habit, Umami Burger, Hopdoddy, Smashburger, and Whataburger. Of the US burger chains I've tried so far, Hopdoddy is clearly the best.

Their milkshakes are to die for!

We don't have them in Pittsburgh but I went there when I was in DC over the summer while I waited for my bus at the train station. It was pretty good. I liked the shake, which I felt compelled to get since it was in the name and all.

As someone who is usually turned off by overcooked meat and potato products, I personally think it's the best of the new 'quality burger joints' (though I haven't tried Habit or Hopdoddy). For Brits, think of it as Nando's for burgers (i.e. fast food for people who find fast food unappealing).

Nando's for burgers (i.e. fast food for people who find fast food unappealing). Oh that is an unfortunate description ensuring I will never go there. If ever I think about Nando's, I always stop and remember I could get some Peruvian rotisserie chicken that is cheaper, tastier, comes in bigger portions, and is locally owned.

I ate at a shake shack when I was in Baltimore for a conference this summer since we don't have them here and I wanted to be up on what the kids these days are into. It was pretty good, maybe a bit pricey for what it was (a medium-sized burger, medium-sized portion of fries, and a small shake in a non sit-down restaurant).
I did end up with a massive case of the shits and an overall unwell belly for the rest of the night and the next morning but maybe that's part of the experience?
As the 'burger equivalent of a Chipotle' I found it lacking and probably not worth the hype it receives.

I think there's a Shake Shank* in las Vegas, but like the lone White Castle it's on the Strip and pretty much in tourist hell.
*that's a typo worth keeping

I finally had it in December.
There is one in Covent Garden.
In London.
It is worse value for money then Five Guys and the fries and drink options are not as good.
The burgers was better then Five Guys though.
I Explained Shake Shack.
To Myself.
