Damn, I was all down for the Dark Side fun of it all until Richard Spencer tweeted out that he was rooting for the Pats because Belichick and Brady were Trumpers.
That took all the fun out of it.
Stupid Nazis ruin everything.

Oh well, at least maybe now that the pats won due to it the NFL will finally change to non-stupid OT rules. Not holding my breath.

In their own minds? They just recently changed it. Also, a sentiment I read elsewhere is one that seems the most likely outcome: The dumbness of NFL OT will be overlooked because of how big a collapse it was from the falcons. If it was a hard fought game all the way, like say pats giants 07, or cardinals steelers 08 and then OT happened, OT would definitely be talked about. But with this game? OT doesnt hold a candle to how the falcons fucked up before that.

OT doesnt hold a candle to how the falcons fucked up before that. Yeah, the Falcons pretty much lifted a burden from the 92 Oilers (in Houston no less) for most epic collapse. Even though the Bills comeback in that game was bigger (down 32 vs down 25), it happened at a lower playoff level and over longer stretch of the game. Also, while in both cases the overall neutral observer sentiment was against the team making the comeback, "We're getting tired of seeing you lose in the Super Bowl, AGAIN" is less intense than "We're tired of seeing you win it all, AGAIN".

So the falcons just fired their defensive coordinator and d-line coach. Even though they got 5 sacks and mostly contained the pats last night. Because the offense couldn't control the clock and was terrible on 3rd downs that helped the pats be able to run 93 plays. No defense should be out there for 93 plays. The D did it's fucking job. 5 sacks a pick six and a fumble recovery.
But hey, can't exactly fire the "MVP" that went 1 for 8 on 3rd downs including a sack taking them out of FG range and having a fumble that led to the pats getting a short field.
Whoever made that decision is shortsighted as hell and just looking for a fucking scapegoat when there isn't one, a collapse that big is more than just one or two people. And it is decisions like this one that is the reason why atlanta has never had a super bowl win, and will keep not having any for the forseeable future.

Yeah, I pretty much agree. It seems like a decision a 10 year old would make. "Well, they had a big lead and blew it! Fire the guy that runs the D!"
Look, folks, Tom Brady is still a great QB. The way to beat the Pats is to not give Brady enough chances to win. That means your offense can't quit after you get a big lead. Offense can't expect the defense to play the entire second half and hold the lead. That really isn't how pro sports work. Definitely not against Tom Brady.
Whatever. Now, the only good part about the Pats winning is that it probably made Roger Goodell mad.

I just read this comment on an article about the jets cutting revis.
"Revis is a legendary Jets player, yet his biggest accomplishment was winning a super bowl with the Patriots"

Pats got Cooks without having to trade butler, and took gilmore from a division rival. Got a decent edge rush replacement for cheap, and also picked up allen as a very cost effective replacement for Bennett, and still have 39 mil in cap space left, while holding onto Jimmy G. I didn't think free agency could have went this well.
Cooks is the perfect WR for the pats offensive scheme, and is a step up from Edelmen. A WR corps of Cooks, Edelmen, Hogan, and Mitchell (who came on very well in the 2nd half of the season) with TEs being Gronk and Allen? That's too good.

I'd be madder about this if I hadn't bailed on roughly 90% of NFL coverage a few years ago. I can still kill fantasy leagues without going through the false patriotism / shit beer / TNF / advertising hell that is the league nowadays. ESPN is a pile of shit, and that's a bipartisan statement. I am surprised to see that his ban was so long ago. 2011? Really? Are you sure? How time flies.

I couldn't really care less either way, but it seems like the kind of thing a certain type of Trump voter would have been FURIOUS about at the time.

Any word on the SNF theme? 'Moonlight Shadow' covered by Death Grips, feat. a bunch of old floppy disk drives. I know, I didn't see it coming either

Go Broncos and/or whoever helps me keep siphoning around $800 per season from my office league (mostly comprised of old men who think this year's the Cowboys' year... every year...)

If the Raiders pull the same bumbling comedy performance against the Broncos as they did against the Redskins, I tell you h-wat, I'm going to be miffed as hell.
