Welcome to more Bob's Burger's reviews, this week is episode two of season six, "The Land Ship", which promises portapotties, tagging and awkward kissing.
The thing about Tina is that she is interesting or rather has patches of interesting about her when searching for a different side of her before retreating to the blandness of her existence. It's who she is and anything else would go against the fibre of her being though boys for whatever reason are usually the main drive for her personality change even if said boy facekisses you in odd ways. "Land Ship" isn't a great episode because while Tina finds that her moral nature can cost her and that queues remain queues even outside reeking portapotties, things that kinda happen happen and that's it, Tina has a story she's done before and Bob gets a relatively muted story. Maybe it's lack of Linda as she was about as background as Teddy tends to be in this one but even with that it's just funny to see Tina being unable to stay awake.

"Oh my god, they're fifing! They're fifing towards us!"
Tina is the unsalted pretzel of Bob's Burgers but she's also a land ship, sturdy and slightly unstable when standing and this is the main thrust of a "Tina tries to find herself, realises she's actually fine where she is because any other her would be hard to keep up in the long term" story, Tina need not change but at least it shows she's more than a sack of neuroses, especially when it comes to painting sails. A fairly quiet episode when considered follows the celebrations of Land Ship, a thrilling tale of deceiving (then slaughtering) the invading British and is now a civic event. Bob is dealing with portapotties sitting outside his restaurant, chasing away business while Tina, being the blandest of the bland even to neurotic librarians, wants to be spicy and be more interesting. B | It's no bad episode but even with the awesome voicework of guests Billy Eichner as the ever neurotically insane Mr. Ambrose and Nathan Fielder as Jordan, Ghost Boy tagger extraordinaire (or would be, damned Tina) it's a surprisingly comfortable episode which is nice like used socks but not something you want to wear too often. |
