I had a sad loser's dinner-for-one on Christmas where I made a 9.5 pound ham (the smallest one I could find at the store). I've been eating off of it for two days now and more than half of it is left and I'm officially sick of just sliced ham or basic sliced ham sandwiches (sliced ham heated on italian bread with mayo).
Someone give me some (preferably cheap) recipes so I can use up 6 pounds of ham! Also just because I'm sick of the plain-jane sandwiches I've been making doesn't mean you shouldn't recommend an awesome ham sandwich recipe if you got one.

Whenever we had a bone-in ham, the bone and all the little gristly bits of meat went into ham and bean soup. Cheap, and it freezes pretty well. allrecipes.com/recipe/17628/basic-ham-and-bean-soup/I'd put in more ham than this recipe calls for, especially if I had six pounds sitting around. Make sure you simmer it long enough for all the collagen and fat to render out of the ham and for the beans to start breaking down (or mush them up a bit) so the broth gets nice and creamy. Cornbread is the perfect accompaniment.

I'm using some of the leftover ham to make ham tacos.
You just need corn tortillas, some oil, and a few veges of your choice.

Cornbread is the perfect accompaniment. I made the best soup a couple months ago; just a ham hock, navy beans, chicken broth, onion, sage and salt. It was divine, and I fear I may never replicate that perfect balance of flavors.

What I'm eating as I read this: scrambled eggs with diced ham and lots of cheese.
When I was growing up, whenever we had ham, at one point my mom would make egg noodles tossed with ham, butter, parm, and peas. I loved it so much I got excited just having a ham meal because it meant we were gonna have that soon.

Speaking of leftover ham, Olive Bacon (my pet ham) has been getting so many scraps! She had most of an apple pie, about 15 tamales, probably 2 lbs of cooked rice (She would have had a lot more, but the massive tray of saffron rice didn't fit in my fridge for days, and molded over (I hosted my grandmother's funeral family gathering, and there was so much food and so much trash, I couldn't throw away anything or put stuff in the fridge for 4 days)), a bunch of light airy rolls, and about 2-3 lbs of leftover turkey. She's only 35 lbs, but is probably doubling that weight after the holidays.
