I come here and find walnut getting the top vote (1 of 1)? That's crazy! Walnuts blow!
Anyway, I voted for pecans, just because they are the most versatile for me. But if I was facing execution and was told that my last meal could only be a single variety of nut, I'd probably go with cashews.
So... yeah. Aren't you glad you asked?

Walnuts are by far the best nut for flavor. Unfortunately they are also the only nut we know of that Baby Snape has shown an allergy to, so we never keep them in the house. Pecans are an acceptable second place.

Wait, wait, what the fuck is happening here? There are people who don't like walnuts? Walnuts are so good!

Wait, wait, what the fuck is happening here? There are people who don't like walnuts? Walnuts are so good!Actually I don't mind walnuts, I just can't see eating a whole bag of them while watching TV or drinking a few beers like I can with peanuts or pistachios or cashews.

Wait, wait, what the fuck is happening here? There are people who don't like walnuts? Walnuts are so good!Walnuts always seem so bland to me! And I am not a fan of nuts in my baked goods, but what's the nut that is most often found besmirching chocolate chip cookies and brownies? That's right: walnuts. I rest my case.

Wait, wait, what the fuck is happening here? There are people who don't like walnuts? Walnuts are so good!Walnuts are at the center of the Affordable/Healthy/Tasty Venn diagram for me. Almonds are probably second, but they aren't nearly as versatile. Throw price and health benefits out the window and it is pecans. I hated pecan pie growing up, but a well made slice of that with a hot cup of coffee is definitely in my top 5 desserts.

Wait, wait, what the fuck is happening here? There are people who don't like walnuts? Walnuts are so good!I'd grown to despise them in my youth, since my mom loved them and would put them into all of her baked goods, so I would be eating something warm and soft and sweet and then what the hell is this hard bitter thing? Feh, I would say as a child! I still don't like nuts in my baked goods. Maybe I could grow to appreciate walnuts if I could separate them from my childhood disappointments. Shulkie is right. Pistachios all the way. A bag of pistachios contains exactly not enough.

Huh, walnuts have never struck me as bitter. Weird.
Also, nuts in bread, cookies, cakes, etc. is the best, fools!

Walnuts in general are delicious, but are most susceptible to being extremely bitter because of the skin. Pecans are just all around amazing unless over-toasted.
I only first had chestnuts 2 years ago, and if they weren't such a hassle to enjoy, those would possibly be #1. They're so soft, meaty, and look just like brains. Cool!
Cashews used to give me headaches as a kid. I avoid them because of that.

Pecans are superior. And I just don't go for nuts in most baked goods. Pecan sticky buns might be the exception. Or maybe some finely diced peanuts as a topper on a donut or something.

If anyone picks brazilnut I'm calling bullshit. I don't outright hate brazilnuts but they often taste like they've gone slightly bad. Like, mildew-y or some sort of stale taste I can't put my finger on. Anyway, pistachios ftw.

I voted almonds due to versatility for me, candied almonds/chocolate almonds/savoury roasted almonds/cherry almond cookie tarts etc...
In terms of straight up eating it's probably pecans though.
Don't get me wrong, I love me some pistachios but the sheer expense of them (especially here) disqualifies them for me.

I associate pecans with pralines, but I buy about two pounds of almonds a month.

MOST FUNNEST FACT EVER: In terms of water consumption, nut orchards are one of the most environmentally harmful crops. California farmers use three times as much water per year on the almond crop alone as is consumed by the entire city of Los Angeles, and walnut orchards require almost half as much water again. Well, now I feel like a monster

I'm going with 'other' and writing in pine nuts, even though they're technically a seed.
