Ugh, that is sad. He was way too young. I loved Andre Braugher in probably everything I ever saw him in. He was so great. Loved him since I saw him way back in "Homicide: Life on the Street". Saw David Simon saying on Twitter that it doesn't stream anywhere likely due to music rights issues.

Tommy Smothers, one of the few legitimately brave comic truth-tellers. Mom always liked you best. I have this weird maybe-memory, maybe-delusion of Tommy Smothers in a movie, being dressed as a RCMP and making a joke about sex with furniture: "I wanted to get into her drawers".

Actor Richard Romanus, 80. You might know him as Dr Melfi’s husband in The Sopranos, but his best turn was as Michael in Mean Streets, the gangster De Niro owes money to. Their final confrontation is one of the tensest scenes ever witnessed, mainly because, all the way through shooting the film, De Niro went out of his way to severely piss him off. What a movie.

John Pilger, 84.
An Australian left-wing journalist/documentary maker, who made his name in the UK in the 60s and 70s, especially with his reporting on Cambodia. His books (especially Heroes) were the first stop for any young, questing lefty. He was excellent on the terrible behaviour of the press, too.

RIP to prolific Mexican tv actor Miguel Ángel Fuentes, who most of us (or at least I) remember from Fitzcarraldo…and admittedly Pumaman.

David Soul, 80. Star of Starsky and Hutch and - very important to young me - 'Salem's Lot. Also, I've noticed, when you see old news reports of poltergeist activity from the the 70s, his poster is unfailingly on every afflicted girl's bedroom wall:

I think her 45 of "Brand New Key" was one of the first records I bought, back when I was in jr high. It was just a bit of bubblegum fluff, but Melanie also recorded classics like this

This is a prior performance of said sketch.

Yeah, I will now always remember "Brand New Key" from that KITH sketch. So unhinged.

No one here has put this one in yet: Norman Jewison, dead at 97.
Moonstruck, Rollerball, Fiddler on the Roof, Cincinnati Kid. Not too shabby, Norman.

Chita Rivera, 91. Always been a big fan of hers - outside of, like, Dick van Dyke it's hard to think of any musical theater personalities who remained active so late in life.

Rock icon Wayne Kramer, guitarist and founder of the criminally over-rated MC5*, dead at 75.
*"Kick Out The Jams" is a undeniable classic song, the rest of their catalog cannot even remotely live up to its reputation

Saw him in concert in the early 90s, but other than Shoulda Been A Cowboy, I don't remember much he's done

I will personally always associate Keith with "Beer for My Horses," which is certainly the funniest title for a pro-lynching anthem. I don't thiiink he was a MAGA chud?
