I've been very very into the new Beths album "Jump Rope Gazers" (As this was an album release year for my band 99% of my listening has been to other bands in our genre and so jangly indie pop & rock will primarily be my contribution to the forum) This passed me by somehow. I liked their last album but I love this one. Thanks for bringing it up. While I'm here... Deftones - Ohms They still haven't made an album that isn't at least really good.

The bonus stuff from the vaults on the huge Sign O' The Times reissue is pretty good, on first listen. But there's around three and a half hours of it (not including the concert performances), so I need more time to digest.

Please add this to my list as well. I wish more of the album sounded like the title track but this is still great.

Throwing Muses - Sun Racket
Released about a month ago and it's a worthy addition to their discography (though they also released a double album in 2013 called Purgatory/Paradise that I completely slept on until about six hours ago that is even better).

Letter To You - Bruce Springsteen
Natch. Though I'll admit to being slightly underwhelmed on my first listen, especially in light of the cascade of 4 and 5 star reviews, and I still don't think it's as good as last year's Western Stars. It does give you everything you want from a Springsteen album, though, reflective and rousing in equal measure.

Neil Young - Archives IIA huge release, 10 discs covering the recording and live periods from 1972 to 1976. This corrals the albums Time Fades Away, Tonight's The Night, On The Beach, and Zuma - though such is the chaotic nature of the time that some songs from later mix n' match albums also begin to crop up ( Like A Hurricane among them, and early versions of Pocahontas and Powderfinger). We get a good representation of the above albums, not among the most audience-friendly of Young's career. We get three live discs, a couple of them already released in the last few years. There's the missing album Homegrown, which also saw a separate release last year. And there are dozens of songs from the vaults, which is the main selling point for me - I'm still absorbing them, but they seem of a very high quality. Not for the casual fan, of course, but, as with the Prince rereleases and the Dylan Bootleg series, there are unbounded riches, and it does put the body of work in some kind of order. I'm really hoping we get something like this from Springsteen next year.

I listened to these songs and I am fascinated by this young person music. Anyway. I heard you were at school. Reading books.

Updated the dang list and added my own to the pile in the form of Hyborian - Volume II.
You might like this if you like the kind of thing that I like which in this case is a band playing stoner riffs that sits somewhere between High On Fire and Mastodon.

The Mountain Goats’s release of this year wasn’t on any year-end list I read, but it’s pretty good (‘Picture of My Dress’ and ‘Wolf Count’ I like in particular).
Charli XCX’s was the most consistently enjoyable to me of any.

I realise it's far too late now for further contributions, but Fantastic Negrito's Have You Lost Your Mind Yet? is indeed fantastic. Also, I'm now really enjoying CLT DRP's Without the Eyes, so thanks for that monodrone.

It's never too late! I'm still adding stuff that I stumble across to my albums from 2020 spotify playlist and probably will for a while longer. For example, Who Are The Girls? by Nova Twins which I'm going to stick on my list now.
