This September is a big anniversary for New York, so that city is the theme for this month. Try to go for bands and albums that specifically reference New York, not just people who are from there. Two nominations each, poll goes up in a week or so.

What will be the balance between works disparaging the city and appreciating the city? One of each from me:
Buck Owens, "I Wouldn't Live in New York City" (1970)
Beastie Boys, "To the 5 Boroughs" (2004)

The Ramones, "Rocket to Russia" (the nomination list obviously needed a Ramones album and this feels their most New York-y)
Jesse Malin, "Love It To Life" (somewhere between his hardcore punk phase and his full-on country phase)

They Might Be Giants - Factory Showroom (but the best thing about New York City is, you and me). REM - Around The Sun (Leaving New York never easy). Why yes, I am taking the piss!

Jeff Rosenstock - Thanks, Sorry.
It's a live album, recorded in the city of New York.

Titus Andronicus - A Productive Cough (2018) Not my favorite of their records, but the most on theme. Opens with "Number One (In New York)". Yes, other cities have bodegas (or bodega equivalents) and mass transit, but I feel that "Above the Bodega (Local Business)" and "Mass Transit Madness (Goin' Loco)" are also about New York.

If I were really mean, I'd nominate U2's Songs of Experience to irritate ganews (don't worry, not an actual nomination). The NYC connection is that Bono sings about his nasty 2014 bike accident in Central Park, which I actually observed the aftermath of firsthand because I was in the park that day and wondered what the milling crowd was looking at.
