I'm going to take over from ganews, if you don't mind, because this is a fun theme I've been waiting five years for him to get around to, and he hasn't yet, so here's my chance. This month's theme will be records by artists widely regarded as one-hit wonders. ("Widely" is here to prevent pedantry of the "um actually 'The Sun Also Shines on TV' charted too!!" variety.)
Poll will go up, idk, on the 23rd?

The Zombies - Odessey and Oracle (1968)
Propping up "Time of the Season" is "Classic Rock Radio"'s greatest sin to these ears, so I was surprised at how much I liked the rest of this record.

Going to do the obvious (for me) pick here, which is Deee-Lite - World Clique (1990). Slide whistles optional.

Have you never suggested this theme to me? I apologize if you have and I forgot. I'm always open to suggestions that don't suck.
Deadeye Dick, "A Different Story". "New Age Girl" was such a good song and the band doesn't even get a wikipedia page for the album. And hey the band is named after a Vonnegut novel.
The Zombies have two hits, the other being "She's Not There". So if they are in, I will also nominate The Refreshments, "Fizzy Fuzzy Big & Buzzy". "Banditos" of course being the big hit, though they did have another track chart.

Bran Van 3000 - Glee (1997) Contains the one-hit wonder song "Drinking in L.A.". Nearly put this one up earlier myself while going through the archives. I'm plumping for: New Radicals - Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too featuring hit single, you all know it, come on, let's hear it fooooor, You Get What You Give. and if the court will allow it The Darkness - Permission To Land. I Believe In A Thing Called Love is a popular song but what about the other songs? Less popular? Oh my, yes. Less good? Who knows?!

Blind Melon - Blind Melon (1992). Features "No Rain" (aka that song with the bee girl video). This shit was inescapable my entire college career.
Iron Butterfly - In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (1968). Don't you know that I'll always be true?

Alice Cooper called them "the best band you've never heard of" and if you need a better endorsement than that to vote for it, I don't know what to tell you.

I think Alice needed to get off the golf course and live in the real world for a while, considering The Refreshments' two singles were inescapable on the radio for a while in the late '90s and they did the theme to King of the Hill.

Rosa, does the album have to be the album with the artist's hit or can it be any album by a one-hit wonder?

Rosa, does the album have to be the album with the artist's hit or can it be any album by a one-hit wonder? I debated about specifying this. I think it depends how tenuous the descriptor of "one-hit wonder" is for the artist in question.
Unambiguously Acceptable: "Spacehog's 'In the Meantime' is a great song, so I nominate Resident Alien, the album with 'In the Meantime' on it." Definitely Acceptable: "Spacehog's 'In the Meantime' is a great song, but they have other songs worth remembering as well, so I'm nominating their sophomore effort The Chinese Album." Pushing It: "Frank Zappa technically is a one-hit wonder, so I nominate Ship Arriving Too Late to Save a Drowning Witch, a.k.a. the Zappa album with 'Valley Girl.'" Not Cool: "Frank Zappa technically is a one-hit wonder, so I nominate Hot Rats."

You should definitely nominate Spacehog, I burned that album.

Let me know if either of these bands don’t properly count as one-hit wonders:
Dead or Alive - Youthquake
Sleigh Bells - Treats
“You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)” fucking rules, but I know nothing of Dead or Alive’s output beyond that song. “Rill Rill” is a great song that makes good use of a sample from a better Funkadelic song, and is a nice tonal change from the extremely good noise rock tracks that surround it on Sleigh Bells’ debut (and only good) album.

Going to use Chumbawumba's Tubthumper to smuggle in some anarcho-communism to the TI under the guise of a football anthem As the TIF's resident Chumabwamba expert/lone fan I wholeheartedly approve, but am also annoyed I didn't see this thread in time to volunteer it myself (it's one of their weakest albums, though). Cornershop - When I Was Born For The 7th Time. They never did break through, but a great little band and Brimful Of Asha remains a great single. Crash Test Dumbass, sorry I mean Crash Test Dummies - God Shuffled His Feet. Because I hate you all.

In high school English we read "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock," and my teacher played CTD song "Afternoons & Coffeespoons" for the class, as its lyrics are inspired by the poem. Haven't heard it in years, but I remember thinking it was alright. I'm not familiar with another CTD song that I know of.
ETA: Yeah, I just listened to it, and it's fine. I don't hate that. His voice is sillier than I remember.

Don't take this the wrong way, but are they still a going concern in the "play state fairs" sort of way, or, like, legitimately gigging in actual venues?

It was for our Plaza concert revue during the summer, so kinda prestige? I didn't see the show. Santa Fe is in a weird nexus between nauseatingly arty and remote/tiny.

Three-or-four-hundred seat clubs I would guess, but I never went so I can't really audit how sparsely attended they were. I did meet the deep-voiced singer once. That's the whole anecdote.

Quickly nominating Focus - Moving Waves (1970) before the poll goes up, because we could all use a bit of yodeling in our lives.
