Hi, I'm haysoos, and I just found this site this afternoon.
Now that the slower winter season is upon us, I will finally have something to do at work besides hitting "refresh" on AV Club in hopes of a new Newswire item.

I'm Mrs David Tennant, and I've been on the AV Club for about 2 years or so - still haven't broken 200 comments. That sounds wrong - is that right? No, it's 2000 comments. I live in NC, work in accounting, I'm trying to get back in library work and have something wrong with my little finger. Don't laugh - it's oddly painful. What sort of library work did you do?

Post by Esse Quam Videri on Nov 13, 2013 19:34:12 GMT -5
Hello, all. I'm Esse Quam Videri which (as some have noticed) is the motto of my home state, North Carolina. Should you wish to address me in abbreviated form, I'm partial to "EQV" rather than "Esse," which makes me sound like a grandmother.
I just tried to see how long I've been hanging around the AV Club, and after wasting quite a bit of time loading comments, I discovered I can only see results back to mid-2010. However, I'm relatively sure I've been around since about 2007 or so, though with two one-year gaps for work reasons. The picture for my avatar is one that I use with most of my online accounts of various names, and is a bit from a stained glass window at my undergraduate alma mater.
It's probably for the best that I only post somewhat irregularly, because if I'm not careful I tend to write extremely long, discursive posts. I'm also an evangelical Christian and politically conservative, but I try to express those convictions thoughtfully. I believe in civility and graciousness even to strangers on the internet.

Hello.
I'm misseli. Lurked about in various TV Club threads, slowly started posting comments of various inanities.
Literally discovered the wonders of the TI Commentariat the week before NuDisqus hit.
Having to scroll back up to the top of the page in order to go to the next page in a thread is already irritating me, but otherwise, it's a nice forum. Lots of white space, very clean.
Yeah, I'm pretty boring. But if I think of anything interesting, I'll try to share it with you.

Well, that's our master plan: To slowly grow on people. THE DISSOLVE takes up all my time, and then some, but good luck. I'd be a reader. Any chance you can lost the white text on dark grey Disqus theme there? Plays merry Hob with my eyes. I'd love to post there, but I can't even read the comments as they are...

I can definitely bring that up next time we talk about the design elements, especially if it's a problem for others.

There should be a floating bar with the buttons for the next page at the top.

I'm Great Boo's Up, both here and on the AVC. I started commenting...I can't remember, earlier this year? But I'd been a regular reader of both the AVC and its comments for years.
I work in technical writing. I usually don't comment much on the Tolerability Index because I work when it's in full swing. (Not that that stops a lot of people, I suppose.)
My avatar is young Orson Welles, because I actually kind of look like that, but with National Health-type specs. When my wife realized how much I look like Orson Welles in his twenties, I think it gave us both a horror of what the future will hold.

Thank you for the info.

I am The Increasingly Manic Tom Baker, and my username is too long. My specialties are Doctor Who, metal and saying rude things about Delaware. I think it will fit, if you eliminate the spaces. Or just two of them.

I'm Matt a tat tat. I mostly lurk/occasionally comment on things that pique my interest. I don't really care for bagels.

Hey all. I'm Pontius Pilates, and I've just started posting on AV Club, but I've been wasting time and blowing off work lurking there for years. It's the board with the wittiest, funniest, and smartest posters than any other pop culture board I've ever posted or lurked on (seriously, have you ever read the boards at Ain't It Cool News? That's a disaster area of Katrinian proportions). I just discovered this board but I'm looking forward to posting here as well. And really, any board that has threads dedicated to Daria and The Brak Show is clearly doing the Lord's work.

I just noticed the floating bar. I'm pretty sure it wasn't there yesterday. I just upgraded Firefox to 25.0 last night, so that may have something to do with it.

Hi. *waves* I'm Christi, or channel DERP. I haven't been on an old fashioned message board in over 10 years. The AV Club frequently crashed my work computer, so it was a wonder I could ever post (and the reason so many of my messages were short and/or I rarely defended myself). Unfortunately the new design does not work at all. I'm going to see if I can change that when I have the time to mess with it. Life has gotten super busy for me lately. At least I can stalk Sean O'Neal on Twitter.
I'm currently waiting for the latest episode of The Returned to finish downloading. It is thus far an excellent show.

Hello. The redesign sent me here finally. Well, just when I get settled in around here, turns out that my work IP is blocked by this site? Not the other way around, according to the message I get when I try to come here on my work computer .

Not the other way around, according to the message I get when I try to come here on my work computer . This is the weirdest thing. Unless someone did something behind the scenes, I can access this site on my work computer from work, but at home on the work computer, it's blocked. I'm probably being dense here and missing something.
