Those blocks are also good for vinyl, should you have it. This was taken at Xmas, hence the lights across the front. They look better in the dark.

Some thoughts on book collections: bigthink.com/personal-growth/do-i-own-too-many-books?rebelltitem=1#rebelltitem1Personally, I'm comfortable with one stack of tsundoku of no more than, say, 36" total and only keeping books that I will either reference, reread, or loan out. A current count of read/shelved books throughout the house is: art/music/spiritual: 55 fiction/humor/travel: 81 cooking/diy: 18 guest room/gifts: 6 nonfiction/reference: 48 in circulation/ tsundoku: 43 - this includes books set aside for this year's Louder Than Bombs reading challenge
TOTAL: 251 - this is probably only half or less than half than all the books I've read, which satiates my ego enough not to want to collect more. As it is, I've limited myself to 4 book purchases a month to stay on top of the reading list while slowing the growth of my collection.

Talebβs the best crank out there and even when very wrong usually picks up on stuff thatβs at least interesting (or, more honestly, entertainingly revealing), but itβs sooo funny to see his name associated with intellectual humility. He is on my reading list π

I gave up and put a shelf that is entirely for books I've bought that I haven't yet read. I haven't sorted this one at all. I just read from the top left. Newly acquired books go to the bottom right. If the shelf is full I don't buy any more books until there is an opening.
This has worked for the last couple years.

The single best thing about our new house is the abundance of built-in bookshelves in the living room, which have finally made it possible for me to solve one of my biggest annoyances: having to shelve LPs down at ground level where I have to crouch down to see what I'm flipping through. I also finally have space to shelve my dvd/Blu-Ray collection: And yes those all click through to high-res pictures so you can evaluate the weird hodge-podge of books my wife and I have accrued.
Is that the original Lego Black Sea's Barracuda ? Very jealous

It is. Bought it for myself with my Christmas bonus a few years ago.

It's good; just Seitz's episode reviews from the run of the show, lightly edited and occasionally expanded, but nice thoughtful reading.
