Ah. Okay then, I have no idea when the turning point is then, or if it's more gradual. Perhaps there's no turning point for Nudeviking and he'll never like the show. It happens. I write as a viewer who quit a few episodes into season 3, and the only reason I stuck so long is because I was assured it got better. Well, also I was unemployed. Yeah up through whatever episode I've seen there's yet to be a turning point where I liked Asuka. That's not to say the show is awful or anything. There have been some okay to good episodes in the 2 seasons I've now watched, they've just largely been Asuka-free episodes/arcs.

Is it really funny to y’all to misspell character names for no discernible reason? Am I missing a joke?
More on topic: Tonight’s episode of Ted Lasso was great, though a bit overstuffed.

Better Call Saul, Season 6: Michael Mando's final scene as Nacho was amazing! Episode 7 - HOLY FUCKING SHIT! What a way to end Howard's story.

There is no reason Ted Lasso should be having legit hour long episodes. That's right, for anyone who hasn't watched Ted Lasso season 3 they are doing hour long episodes. Not the made for commercial hour long episodes either, but full on premium pay channel an actual hour long episodes. Ted Lasso is not The Sopranos. There really isn't enough meat on the bones for it to justify the length imo. The saccharine emotional arcs were able to wash down a lot easier when there was less of it. I do think it is a very funny show at times and wish it was more of a straight up broad comedy as that what it works best as. Sorry for the off the cuff rant, Ted Lasso has just been one of the more frustrating shows since it has been on, because there are plenty parts I do like, it just rarely gels together for me. I think if it wasn't ending this season I would have quit watching.

I texted my friends who had already watched the season: "OMG, this is so bad. Something really bad is going to happen to [that character]." One wrote back, "You definitely understand this show". Another wrote, "Solid prediction".
Even still, that was horrible to see. I had to stop watching for several hours before I could pick up the next episode.

My phone constantly autocorrects Ahsoka to Asuka and I'm too lazy to go back and change it. Any other incorrect Star Wars name I've dropped is just me writing junk I've only ever heard and never seen written phonetically.

I think they keep the pacing pretty tight, so it feels more like binging a couple of shorter episodes back-to-back than sitting down for one hour-long show. At the same time, I agree with you that that there's no compelling reason for why these episodes need to be an hour long either. The show feels most comfortable as a breezy Bill Lawrence hangout sitcom, and when it pivots back to the season arc of whether the team can win the Big Game or whatever I find myself caring less and less. (This is partially because I find the blatant green screening of the soccer games to be annoying and disconcerting.) We still haven't received definitive definitive confirmation that show is ending after three seasons, BTW. I get the impression that Sudeikis wants to wrap it up but everyone else wants to keep it going, so I wouldn't be surprised if we get a quasi-spinoff/continuation series sans Sudeikis. Whether a Lasso-less Ted Lasso can possibly succeed I have no idea.

That's the cloying shit that just gets on my nerves about this show. I actually quite liked the scene of the team coming together to rebuild Sam's restaurant, because part of it always plays on the joke of look at these jocks doing something not jock like. But really, we just scratch the huge surface of issues with refugees and racist politicians and it is going to end with Sam being told to just "ehh, forget about it". Like why even bother tackling the issue at all if you are going to run away from it in the end. Especially when the bullshit midwestern philosophy lesson is coming from Sam's dad this time. The man who got Sam to tank the clubs biggest sponsor previously on principles alone. Just excise the whole plot and save the episode 20 minutes.

Finished BCS tonight. It was great. The last few episodes were fun. I was excited to see Carol Burnett, and loved that she ended up being directly responsible for Saul's arrest.

Finished BCS ourselves. Hell of a show, and hell of a final season. I was glad the final four episodes still made time for flashbacks to the pre-Omaha days. Loved the scenes with Walt and Jessie. Good final scene with Chuck, that dick.

Last night's Bob's Burgers was a delight. The show has lost a little of its "adult" humor edge since its early seasons, but that's not really a complaint - I hate shows that are edgy just for the sake of it; I'm glad Bob's is still funny and true to itself after 13 seasons.

I DVRed the Carol Burnett 90th birthday special and watched it last night while waiting for Succession to start, and it tickled me pink to see Vince Gilligan lead a standing ovation for Vicki Lewis. He looked so delighted to be there. Bob Odenkirk gave a little presentation as well, but I can't find a clip of that to put here.
Speaking of Succession, what in the FUCK was that bitey thing with Shiv and Tom? What insane member of her family started that "game"? What is wrong with them?! Why are rich people like this?

I don’t know, early Bob’s really captured kids saying things inappropriately in a way that actually true to life (and with Gene capturing kids saying inappropriate things they don’t totally understand) rather than just an an adult putting words in a kid’s mouth. It’s trying on adult things with an element of innocence, which is why the kids’ ages worked so well. Plus the bits of silly selfishness that goes with having a child’s unfinished brain. Louise may have been pretty bad, but her coming to a moral conclusion at the end of every one of her stories is more adult than the “adult” humor early on. I miss that.

I'm not saying there was anything wrong with the early seasons, although I do think some of the very early episodes have some mean-spirited moments; my "Edgy for edgy's sake" is more aimed at like, Family Guy, which I loathe. Pretty sure Gene still says inappropriate things he doesn't understand.

I loved that final flashback with Saul and Walt. Wow, Bryan Cranston can still utterly nail that supreme asshole quality of Walt, even in a short scene.
I, too, enjoyed the final scene with Jimmy/Chuck. More kudos to actors here, this time for Michael McKean, who gave an incredible dramatic performance on this show.
Also, not sure I mentioned this, but since this is the final season, the final actor I want to credit is Tony Dalton, who gave one of the greatest villain performances in all of BB/BCS.
This is in addition to the general greatness of Odenkirk, Seehorn, Esposito, Mando and Banks.
Freaking great cast.

The kids may have gotten more "TV kids" over time, but the overall strength of the family dynamics has never really wavered (imo). I can't really think of another show that has more accurately captured the vibes of, I don't know....exasperated bemusement, that come with having kids in those general age ranges.

We're trying to do the whole "only have a streaming service if we're actively using it" thing, so we let Apple TV+ and Peacock expire, and then we also dropped Hulu when SNL went to the "live TV" package. This put us down to just Netflix, which is such a staple service, practically a commodity, that I never considered canceling it, Disney+ 'cus kids, Marvel, and Star Wars, and finally Prime, which we'd have anyway. This worked fine, because we were mostly bingeing mid-oughts procedurals on Prime, and my kids usually prefer Netflix for kids programming. Literally the only time it's come up is when my daughter wanted to watch The Bob's Burgers Movie on movie night, and we couldn't.
But with the current seasons of SNL and Ted Lasso concluding this month, we decided to re-up to both Apple and Peacock for a month. It's nice to have access to new stuff again. Going to be watching SNL, Top Chef, Mythic Quest, Ted Lasso, Severance, and Poker Face. I originally got the basic package on Peacock, but after 20 minutes of the first episode of SNL, I got so fed up with the commercials that I upgraded to the ad free package. It was kind of neat when my TV immediately knew the package was upgraded. Didn't even have to restart the app or the episode. One click on my phone and the TV stopped playing ads.
When all that's done, we'll probably keep Peacock to finish out the season of Top Chef, drop Apple, and maybe get a Paramount account for once to check out some of the Trek stuff.

SNL is a long show, so it's more like 4-7 minutes of commercials over the course of an episode, times 10-12 episodes in the Spring half of the season, and yeah that's worth 5 bucks.

Was Aubrey Plaza a good guest host? I thought she was good. Apparently she used to be an NBC page who worked at SNL. She was game, but the sketches were pretty dire. (I don't defend SNL. I simply accept that I've been watching it since I was kid and plan to continue to do so.) On Weekend Update she appeared as April Ludgate along with Amy Poehler as Leslie Knope, which had this whole kind of meta vibe to it, since Amy used to host Weekend Update. They both seemed to be playing earlier P&R versions of their characters, especially Aubrey as April.

I'm afraid I don't have one. The Seagal episode aired in April of 1991, when I was 7 years old, and if I did watch it at all, I don't remember it now. Around '95 - '96 is when I started watching the show. I would offer to go back and watch the Seagal episode to provide my in-depth review, but according to a Cracked article I just found, Seagal's performance is almost entirely stripped from the version of the episode streaming on Peacock.

I can’t imagine it’s normal for the host to be absent from that many sketches.

I watched the first two sketches. The second one actually had a couple of solid jokes. The premise is that there's a series of televised celebrity-hosted tributes to each individual American soldier who served in the Gulf War, and it's just the hosts celebrating this PFC who served for two months at some supply depot or something. As with most SNL sketches the premise is worn a little thin, and a lot of the jokes feel a little formulaic, but I actually laughed more than once. Steven Seagal is not in it. He is apparently in the third sketch that appears in the episode, which is also on Youtube. And I also laughed once at this, because Chris Farley was good enough in a thoroughly pedestrian sketch even opposite Steven Seagal fucking everything up to get a laugh out of me. Also, consider the following Youtube comment:

Schwarzenegger would have likely killed it (if he had ever hosted); he clearly loves doing goofy comedy.
