Hopefully, the title is self-explanatory.
I watched Drunken Master last night. Inspired by its theme of "booze bestows power," I got pretty sauced whilst watching it. Workday is going by slowly now.

I watched the Lego Movie last night. I was not expecting the sort of meta ending.

Hmmmm. I guess I really should have posted this in the movies section. If a mod wants to move it, feel free.

Watched Machete Kills last night.
I'm stilling trying to decide if I like it or not. I liked a lot of the ideas of each scene, and many of the performances, but it seems like the actual execution of each scene didn't quite work. So basically, every Robert Rodriguez movie. The movie was also hurt a lot by not being a hard R.

I can't remember if I watched Tremors last or the Lego movie.
Tremors was silly fun and the Lego Movie was just so darn cute (in a good way). I laughed at a few things, but I just remember thinking, "that was just the cutest movie" as I was turning the dvd player off.

I finally got around to The Master on Netflix. While the acting is great, I'm glad I waited until it was streaming for free.

I literally cannot remember the last movie I saw the whole way through. How sad is that. I do want to go see Guardians of the Galaxy next week, though. And I'm waiting for the Lego Movie to come to Netflix.

I agree that the acting was great, but the script didn't do much for me. Also, I found the score to be SUPER intrusive. I guess that was intentional, but it bugged me.

I'm pretty sure I had Kill Bill Vol. 1 on IFC in the background the other night (remember when IFC showed independent films?). After this weekend I expect my answer will be one or more old Jackie Chan movies.

The movie was also hurt a lot by not being a hard R. Is that the first one? If so, I thought it was a pretty hard R. He disembowels a guy and uses his intestines to climb out a window! This is the second one, in which Machete stabs a guy, pulls out his intestines, and throws them into the whirling blades of a helicopter. He also chops one guy completely in half. Then there is a gun which turns people inside out. But presumably because the violence was so 'comical' and over-the-top, it was given a M-14 rating by the movie channel, and there was no nudity (or even close nudity) as there was in the first one. All of the action scenes seemed to be set more to "outrageous" than "awesome" because of it.

Tonight I watched The Shaggy Dog (the original) with my kids. I hadn't seen it in 30 years, and it holds up pretty well! It's got lycanthropy and commie spies. And also, the male leads are actually punished for their mistreatment of women - fairly progressive for 1959.

A Simple Plan. Even though I love the book I'd never seen the movie before.

I prefer the term "Most recently Watched Movie." "Last Movie Watched" is depressing. You'll understand when you're old.

Grave Encounters this evening. Not particularly good but I like to have random horror movies on as background noise...which makes me sound like a psychopath.

The remake of 3.10 To Yuma, spread over about four late night, before-bed moments on Netflix. It's nothing special, I suppose. Tonight I'll be watching Insidious though, all the way through, one shot.

Watched Life Itself last night. There were few revelations for me; I'd read all the blog posts that went into the book. Nonetheless, it was a profoundly moving experience, and a fascinatingly deep glimpse at a man that most people didn't realize had more to him than a thumb.
If you can, go see it in a theater, with lots if people.

I watched The Raid 2 last night. So many awesome fight scenes and shots, the fight scene in the mud being my favorite. I gasped out loud only twice, and I think I only covered my eyes once. Face ripping, no thanks.

"Wish I Was Here" last week. Still angry about that one. I feel like I have to ask: why? Zach Braff anything feels like an exercise in buyer's remorse.

I'm just back from Norte, The End of History which was in many respects incredible.
I'll only give it a qualified recommendation though as it is a little over four hours long (although it didn't really feel it) filmed almost only in very long and static shots and is nowhere near cheerful, still quite an experience and if you were considering going already and/or these don't sound like reasons not to go, I confirm you should.
There's otherwise lately been a bunch of martial arts movies, including Legend of Drunken Master a couple of days ago. I'll give an unqualified recommendation for that one to anyone here.

Starship Troopers about a month ago. I would like to know more! It was randomly on basic cable as is usually the case and result in Ladyviking, who had apparently never seen it before, to declare stuff like, "Hey it's that guy from Breaking Bad!" and "That's Doogie Howser!" (because apparently Doogie Howser was on television in South Korean in the late 80s/early 90s.

I just saw it this afternoon! I liked it but found it also to be kind of a depressing movie. Mild spoilers... Was I the only one thinking that the polar bear was looking at a scrumptious meal at the end?

Was I the only one thinking that the polar bear was looking at a scrumptious meal at the end? Not alone; but most interpretations see it as optimistic sign of life. Lot of good writing about the film: best I've seen see it as metaphors for, respectively, capitalism and Gnosticism.
