Random thoughts:
Nice to see Poot for what I assume is the last time. He seems out of the game, somewhat surprising given how he was always more practical than Body. But maybe that is how he made it.
I loved how the FBI profile fit McNulty to a 'T'.
The one thing I was spoiled on going into this show was that some popular character named Omar died in a controversial way. For some reason I thought it happened in the 2nd or 3rd season, so I had been waiting for this for a while. I don't think it hurt my enjoyment, perhaps it made me even more surprised how many times he did not get killed when he could have. I also would not have known that was Kenard who shot him other than a wikipedia entry on the last episode which went out of the way to point out that Kenard was the only one who was not impressed by Omar. The only other option I considered was that his leg would get infected and he would die. This was good though. I don't think I could have handled it if Kenard had maintained his usual bluster after the fact. I am sure it will come back soon enough, but at least we saw the frightened kid for a minute. If someone does not beat some humility into him he may end up as the next Marlo.
At this point I am wondering how many characters I have seen for the last time and how much can possibly get wrapped up in the next two episodes. Again that makes the newspaper story feel like a distraction. Too bad because it is a good story. I was really amazed that the somewhat minor embellishments in the one decent story Templeton writes are the ones that come back to bite him in the ass.
