so after watching this wondrous comedy last Tuesday I sought out greater context. in particular, during my ambling, I found that gene siskel thought this movie brilliant and cutting. ebert did not; he actively hated it.
I usually like KITH episodes for their odd skewering of the ties that bind us as humans together. This movie was no exception, and I found it sleeker than some of the clunk that does appear in the television show. Again, referring to extracurricular information gathering, the tribulations that all faced during making this film don't transparently appear. I loved how their longtime relationship with Lorne Michaels got a very toasty roasting.
I don't easily convey my depth of feeling and understanding in these words, but Brain Candy is certainly a film that should be required viewing for out-of-the-way comedy troupes looking for inspiration.
