I just wonder how Negan amassed such a large talented and loyal following if his introduction to every new group is to terrorise them into submission and kill some of their members as a calling card. Or how it makes sense for him to only kill one of Rick's group after all the death he inflicted on them. Or how Alexandria isn't a smoking hole by now. That's easily enough to overrun them.

Or how it makes sense for him to only kill one of Rick's group after all the death he inflicted on them. Or how Alexandria isn't a smoking hole by now. That's easily enough to overrun them. Long term he needs these communities to provide his group with food and supplies. I imagine most of his group is made up of singles or small groups. He saves the "kill a token member" for the larger communities he wants to fall in line. I know this goes against what the grenade launcher group said, unless they already knew about Alexandria. The bad thing about drawing these encounters out is that by now Negan should know that Rick's group is different and that much more harsh tactics would be required to break them.

Just finished last season. I'm with y'all...the whole "I'm going to kill one of you so the rest of you fall in line" is a stupid idea and won't work for Rick's group.
As usual, plenty of good character points during the season, but I was not looking forward to this finale, knowing approximately what was coming, and the whole "run into Negan's men, back off, try a different road, repeat 8 or so times" was a really stupid idea, because OF COURSE YOU'RE NOT GETTING TO HILLTOP at that point! If it's even THERE any more!

FOX UK was nice enough to air this just a half hour later than the US started it, though it looks like that's a once off, but anyway: Quite the Abraham and Isaac moment, if you will forgive the obvious other connection: I mean Rick and Carl, not the late Abraham Ford.
Clever bit of misdirection, I'll grant, having Glenn die second, but this felt like a rather meta hour, with Negan talking as much to the audience as he was to rick - everyone's obviously lost someone before this is a post-apocalypse, but the audience may feel as Negan suggests Rick should feel about losing people he'd grow old with.
It felt like Event TV, when binged ten years from now it won't feel like such an event.

Ugh, yeah. I had to spoil myself on this one, since I know I won't get to see the episode itself for probably nine months.
Rough. Very rough.

Didn't bother to watch, but after finding out who was killed...damn i liked Glen. Eh, on Abraham. Yeah, I think I'm done with this show.

Yeah, I think I'm done, too; if I want to know what happens to Carol and Daryl (singly and together, still shipping that no regrets), I'll just ask the internet.
I do not do well with sadistic schoolyard mentality bullies who are bound and determined to grind everyone to subservient dust, to the point of it giving me something very like anxiety attacks - I don't think it can rightly be called "triggery", since I've never encountered anyone actually like that IRL, but it's along those lines. And I'm not really attached to any of the characters enough to put myself through that, either on a weekly basis, or through however many hours of binge-watching once it's on Netflix.
If Carol dies, I riot, but otherwise, not compelling enough to make me keep on keeping on. It's now hit a level of torture-porn for me, and I'm not into that.

King Ezekiel is the best new character the show has done in years and a shot of energy the show badly needed after that premiere. (Great seeing Carol do what she does best, too.)

The most recent ep is still sitting unwatched on our DVR, damn near unheard of this far into the week in more recent seasons. Normally my wife is driving us to watch but she's been notably silent about it.

It's really amazing how uninterested my wife is in TWD. She was the main reason I knew we weren't going to stop watching the show, as unpleasant as it was becoming. She's a zombie fanatic. And yet we're three episodes behind now. Saturday night we had the evening open. "What should we watch?" My wife asked. "We've got a few episodes of Walking Dead to catch up on." I pointed out. She shrugged. "Let's watch Sopranos instead."
