So, welcome to the board for my recaps and reviews of "The Greatest American Hero." It's the hot new Fox reality show which allows the audience to vote on which U.S Army veteran tells the best war stories. Ha ha! Just kidding, it's not that at all. It's the hyperbolically-titled superhero sci-fi dramedy from the 1980's.
Why am I doing this? Well, I enjoy the AV Club's classic TV reviews, and I just started watching TGAH this fall. I found myself wishing there were reviews I could read along with the show. Then I thought, hey, why don't I write some? I sometimes post about my TV and movie viewing habits on AV Club's weekly "Tell us about..." page, and I just discovered TWO vlogs about people watching old-school Doctor Who for the first time, and this weird kind of peer pressure seems to be telling me that watching TV is lonely if the world doesn't know about it. There may also be a midlife crisis component; I'm trying to get over my reluctance to express myself creatively, so I've been following some whims this year. Whimsical!
I'm not good at long-term commitments, but Season one has only seven episodes (eight if you count the pilot), so hopefully I can keep it up at least that long. I plan to post early in the week, Mondays or Tuesdays. I've never written reviews before, so I'm not entirely sure what to say. I'll try to make them more than just plot recaps.
I'll post my first review tonight. The TGAH pilot can be found on YouTube. (I probably should have mentioned that days ago. Sorry.) All other episodes are on Hulu.

You know when I compared Yuri Petrovitch's Cobra coverage to cheesy 80s shows the Agony Booth used to do good recaps of, I was specifically thinking of shows like Greatest American Hero.
Anyway, looking forward to it.

Go for it! I'll chip in the vaguest memories I can conjure of this show.
I used to think the theme song was sung by james taylor.

I remember liking the show and the theme song, and one Hallowe'en or otherwise horror themed episode that scared the hell out of me. I was a very suggestible, traumatized kid.

I remember this as well. In fact, Mrs. Rumak borrowed a set of DVDs from a friend, and tried to get the kids to watch the show, and I warned her about the episode. Turns out, they were not interested in the series at all. I wonder if she has returned the DVDs, and whether I can convince her to watch them and post here.

I know that episode too, I think we discussed it recently over at the AVClub? The one with the dimension inside the wall? Or the killer doll? (Or were they the same one?)
