A thread over at The A.V. Club about people's admiration for the colors in Disney's The Jungle Book and Alice in Wonderland got me thinking about movie with cool color schemes.
Over Halloween, I watched Mario Bava's Kill Baby, Kill and it reminded me how much I enjoy films with oversaturated colors. The Bava film in particular had a great mixture of shadows and rich hues.
I find that even the worst movies in this vein (think the MST3K episodes of Santa Claus, The Day The Earth Froze, and Jack Frost) possess a dreamlike quality that makes them highly watchable.
So, TI'ers, what are films that are enjoyable because of their colors?

Suspiria! Or in particular the parts where the actual story is left to the side for a minute and you just have someone going down a saturated red passageway to Goblin singing WITCH! every so often.

Maybe a little too obvious but still great: Not too obvious, because they are fantastic films! Which one was your favorite? My choice would be Rouge.

A little Terence Malick, Days Of Heaven - lots of this was filmed during magic hour, so the story goes.

It's all about House of Flying Daggers. Hero is another one. It has color for each version of the story.

Rouge is brilliant, and Irene Jacobs deserved a Best Actress nomination for her performance, but for some reason I always thought Bleu was the most popular. Oh, another film that deserves to be on this list: Raise the Red Lantern

Don't let the character designs fool you, The Croods was gorgeous and full of color for the most part. I'm also very fond of the tones in Mary and Max, but I assume we're focusing on brighter color here.

Robby Müller's cinematography in Paris, Texas was very vivid.

Inspired by Dellarigg choosing Days of Heaven, I submit the Malick film, Badlands

Bleu, because Preisner's score and that last scene just destroy me every damn time. Add to the list: The Fountain

Hard to recommend the rest of the movie, but the color and cinematography in Only God Forgives.

I'm really fond of the colours in Dredd, but I can't find any good screen caps. Spring Breakers is another one, the colours are so garish but in the best way. I love the ending scene, where everything's got that intense neon pink hue. It's like a candy coated nightmare.
Good mentions with the Mario Bava film and Suspiria. I really just love the old school, over saturated horror film aesthetic. I can guarantee this to you, that if I ever made a movie, it would look exactly like that.

I don't especially like Black Narcissus (though lots of other people do) but it's basically the best of '40s Technicolor.

Rouge is my favorite as well, but I think Blanc doesn't get nearly enough love. I mean, c'mon people, Julie Delpy! Black Comedy! A guy named Karol Karol! The movie sells itself. I'm not as much of a fan of it, but The Double Life of Vernoique definitely qualifies as well. The color scheme is absolutely gorgeous. Sławomir Idziak (who also worked on Bleu and The Dekalog, among others) knows his shit.
