I suspect most people are biased toward the seasons of Saturday Night Live that they watched first, as I am (96-02, 89-95 in reruns). What's your favorite sketch? For me, it's probably the post-impeachment cold open from 1998. I can't find video, but here's the transcript. Darrell Hammond's perfect Clinton, Molly Shannon's Lewinsky chugging beer, Tracy Morgan dancing to "Chain of Fools". I was starting to develop my political sensibilities at the time, and it just stuck with me.

I probably should do some more thinking (and video-finding) but "you're a rat bastard Charlie Brown" with Bill Hader as Charlie Brown pops into my head right away. ah, here link

Hamm and Buble, it has everything one could ask for. Jon Hamm, actual ham, musical comedy, comedic sociopathy, puns, and more!

I can't pick a favorite. Here are some that I like. Most of them are well known. I might try to find links later. With a few exceptions, they are mostly 2000 on, which is when I really started watching the show.
Debbie Downer at Disney World More Cowbell Dick in a Box Any Celebrity Jeopardy Sketch Rainn Wilson hosts a business meeting with really weird guests (including all of Arcade Fire) Who's More Grizzled Robert Goulet in Red Ships of Spain Peyton Manning Supports United Way Alec Baldwin as Head Elf in "Always Be Cobbling" (though he eff'd up the big line) Any Barry Gibb Talk Show sketch Bring it on down to Homelessville, with Justin Timberlake as a cup of soup Really anything with Justin Timberlake

I've only watched SNL sketches randomly on YouTube. With that in mind, Phil Hartman as the secretly super-intelligent Ronald Reagan:

The one that really cracked me up, but nobody else seems to remember it is the Hip Hop Kidz Stuck in a Bear Cave

The one that really cracked me up, but nobody else seems to remember it is the Hip Hop Kidz Stuck in a Bear Cave Love that one, but yeah didn't remember it. "Why does this keep happening?" "Our behavior. This keeps happening because of our behavior." (I think this also had JT, so it's an automatic good sketch.)

I only started watching in 2008, but as I took a healthy and immediate dislike to Kristen Wiig, I never really loved that era - I think "my" era is the beginning of Ferrell to the end of Fallon (1995-2004). To add to your list of recent classics: The Worst Of Soul Train Beethoven Introduces The Band Heavy metal news guy on "Update" Jon Bovi on "Update" I'm sure even the people involved in those sketches wouldn't consider them their best, but they always make me laugh.

The Lost Ending to It's a Wonderful Life (You made one mistake, Potter! You crossed me and left me alive!) Men's Synchronized Swimming (I don't swim) Cluckin' Chicken (Any last words, Clucky?) Gerald Ford Potential Obits (He was delicious!) Consumer Probe (Hey, kid! Broken glass!)

I vaguely remember watching an episode from season 10 live, but I started watching SNL regularly during season 11. Of course, I was already familiar with the Aykroyd/Chase/Murray cast through specials and syndication. My favorite cast would be the Phil Hartman/Mike Myers years. Happy Fun Ball The Sinatra Group Deep Thoughts with Jack Handey (recurring) Phone sex for sci-fi/fantasy nerds (The only video I can find for this is on the official Paris Hilton site. If you don't want to dirty your browser with that, here's a transcript.) What is Burn Notice?

Actually, I find Jim Breuer's Goat Boy character rather offensive. Hmph.

A lot of my favorites have already been posted. One that hasn't been listed yet is: Japanese Game Show (from the 90s w/Alec Baldwin as host) - It isn't on YouTube, but if you have Hulu here it is: www.hulu.com/watch/18882Mike Myers and Chris Farley are so, so, so, so funny in that one.

Delicious Dish "Schweddy Balls". Oh my God, Alec Baldwin nearly made me cry laughing in this. Ana Gasteyer and Molly Shannon do an amazing job keeping straight faces, and wringing every single joke possible out of this premise.

There's something that SNL doesn't do often, but I love when they do it, is 'two-part' sketches :
Watch :
Then watch :
Or watch :
Then watch :
OR (my favorite) watch :

I can't find the full bit, and probably remember it as better than it was, but I love Gilda Radner and Steve Martin's 'Dancing in the Dark' the most, even if it wasn't the funniest sketch.
