Did they just leave Anne in Philadelphia? The FUCK As I said on Twitter, Jack Rackham is officially Team Why Would You Live Where The Air Hurts Your Face. Right there with you, Jack. Also bless your heart for walking in there and just going, "Yup Jack Rackham that's me" ilu so much. Absolutely. I was going to say exactly this. I appreciate his realization of what the name he wanted to etch of the world has come to mean. When it's down to it, he's for Anne. I hope we see them reunited.

I really, really liked the pirate fangirl, and his reaction to her: proud and preening at first, and then the gradual realization that she actually thinks they're all monsters, that it is oh-so-amusing to her, and that she'll believe anything she hears about pirates, no matter how terrible or ridiculous.

The Max-Anne thing is still kind of odd to me. When they first got together after Anne took pity on Max it was kind of sweet, then Max seemed almost like she was using Anne. Now it's all genuine and sweet again, but what's the plan here?
Showdown at Skeleton Island. This ought to be entertaining. I'm glad so many of Flint's old crew have been around. Navigator guy with one ear, tall silent Asian guy, etc.

He has never EVER in his life been so naive as to think that someone would NOT fuck him over if given the opportunity, WHY would he believe it of Flint? With Flint's history? *shakes Silver til his head falls off* FLINT IS A LIAR DON'T BELIEVE HIM

Did I miss something? How did the hold catch fire?
WTF? Also, my DVR kept freezing for a few seconds during every fight scene. I'm going to have to re-record it and watch again.

I'm guessing the governor's forces started the fire somehow. (Yes, the Wiki confirms.)
I knew that old guy was dead the moment Jack started to get excited about the implications of it all.
Joji gets his moment to shine at last. But aww. And De Groot. I know practically everybody has to die, but still. I suppose Jack with make it, as someone has to come along and collect the survivors from the island. I wonder if we'll even see Anne and Max again. DAMMIT, this is the second-to-last episode!

Joji nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Flint you asshole. And if we DON'T see Anne and Max again, I will have to .....do....SOMETHING. How are they gonna wind everything up in just an hour? Is it maybe a two hour finale?

ONLY DOGS CAN HEAR ME
& I have once again proven that, by manically repeating "don't die (character), please don't die), I can keep characters alive.
MARY READ.

The introduction of Mark/Mary Read was clever. The whole ending was a bit too clever by half, but I'll allow it. Featherstone being governor makes me happy. Jack and Anne not only living but continuing to hunt makes me happy. A lot of things make me happy, not least of which is the fact that I get to make the comment I've been visualizing for the last three episodes: "No Madi, Captain Flint isn't dead! He just went to live on a nice farm up north where he can be happy and free and play with his friend!" The series leaves a couple unanswered questions: how did Billy Bones get off Skull Island - or did Billy just sort of step into Ben Gunn's roll after taking the trouble to leave the latter alive? How did Madi, even if she forgave John, agree to go live in England? Maybe that was part of John's scheme in the book. Great scenes tonight, the showdown between Billy and Flint being the most epic. It's been a great show. I'm glad to have a few people on this thread, the only people in the world I know to watch this show, to talk to about it. I will miss it, but I'm glad for the satisfactory conclusion. My only regret is never getting to see John's parrot named "Captain Flint". Thanks WKRP Jimmy Drop and haysoos (whom I won't tag so as not to spoil).

I have never understood how they thought Madi would be content to move to England and be somebody's wife. I don't think that she and Silver want the same kind of domesticity; it was very apparent, when he had the gun on Flint, that he is just exhausted of all of it, and wants to get away from Nassau, and she...is very much not on that wavelength. Also she would still be a black woman in England, where slavery is still legal, and she would be subject to a lot of racism and hatred. Why would she do that, when she could stay in the Bahamas and be a badass? She definitely was not raised to do anything other be in charge. Dude, I was a little worried during that Billy and Flint fight, even though I KNEW they'd both be okay. Also JACK RACKHAM LIVES. I kept him alive by the sheer power of my mind. Although I am disgruntled a bit that Anne wasn't there to stab people.

Well in the book we know the old crew tracks down Billy at last, then Silver re-appears, but I suppose we don't know the circumstances that really go around it all. Silver had a tavern sort of place, but that doesn't mean it had been there for twenty years. Maybe it was a long game. Eh, things aren't going to align perfectly. They already don't match the book telling that Flint and Silver were on the ship while the treasure was buried. But within the series, the fact that Silver manipulated everything behind Madi's back so they could have babies ever after is way more messed up. She was right to be furious. It's not even about her, it's the revolution: millions of enslaved, given up on so two white male pirates could escape their numerous crimes and live with their respected loves. There would be some great thinkpieces if the show had been more popular.

There would be some great thinkpieces if the show had been more popular. You make a good point; they don't have to been in England the whole time, it could have been the place they fled to years later, after who-knows-what happened. HA my friend and I were just talking about Silver's manipulation in email, and said basically all those things. My theory is actually that that Silver doesn't really get the difference between Madi's rebellion and Flint's. Flint is a giant ball of rage that wants to punch England in the face til it falls over for offenses it has delivered to him personally; Madi wants to, y'know, stop slavery and give an entire group of marginalized people life with some sort of dignity. (Not that Flint isn't right to rage against his/Thomas'/Miranda's lives being destroyed because of the gay, but he's not fighting for gay rights, he's fighting for revenge). I feel Silver also doesn't really understand the "millions of enslaved" thing. He understands "helping Madi's people" but doesn't necessarily translate that into "this is a global issue that should be eradicated".

"No Madi, Captain Flint isn't dead! He just went to live on a nice farm up north where he can be happy and free and play with his friend!" It took months of waiting, but my labmate (who is the only person I have met in real life who watches this show) finally finished the last season. So I got to share the above joke with him.

Ooh! I am out of grad school now. I can finally try to start watching this again. I watched about 5 or 6 episodes and then got too busy. Gotta find it online somewhere.

Obvious rip-off. Charles Vane didn't wear a shirt.
