Here's a spot where those of us that are interested in the matter of TV ratings and viewership.
I must say, on the topic of TV ratings, it's shocking to me how ABC has gotten Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday and even Friday (Last Man Standing turns in surprisingly good numbers and Cristela is turning out to be a steady performer), but man, Tuesday, has just been a relentless problem. Selfie and A To Z flopped this past Fall, and left them without an entire hour of new network programming for three months (that hiatus will end when Fresh Off The Boat debuts later this month) A stark contrast to the organized, well-performing other nights of programming they have right now.

A to Z was actually NBCs failed sitromcom, it was Manhattan Love Story which bombed on ABCs Tuesday. Minor nitpicking aside I agree ABC have really got their act together, although I'm not so sure Monday or Sunday are particularly strong for them being occupied by ageing and increasingly expensive shows. But considering what a mess it was the previous season with Paul Lee being considered moments from being fired everything looks improved.

Since it's ratings have been constantly declining since it's premiere, I have a hunch Agent Carter will bite the dust, a real pity considering the quality of the show.

Good thing Carter was only planned as a 7-episode run. I kinda didn't expect Hayley Atwell to be available for a regular series.

Actually everybody is apparently kind of hoping for a second season renewal, Atwell included. I thin Carter has a decent chance at hanging on, just so ABC can retain the Marvel brand on their network.

Better Call Saul didn't disappoint in its debut last night, garnering 6.9 million viewers, making it the biggest cable show debut in history. The gift of Breaking Bad just keeps in giving, huh?

Hey! Let's bring this bad boy back now that the Fall TV shows are about to start with Gotham, Minority Report and Blindspot tonight!
Blindspot should do decently, if only because of that Voice lead-in (although that didn't do State of Affairs any favors last winter). I do have a hunch Minority Report will be a big o'l ratings dud though.

I don't mean to be a boasting Barry, but I was dead-on in my predictions. Blindspot had a huge 10.60 million viewers last night, while Minority Report bombed. I could have never predicted it would do this badly though; it only had 3.09 million viewers last night. Yeesh.

What is it about sci-fi cop procedurals on Fox, eh? I predict Expanse will do fairly well for Syfy - probably in the ballpark of Battlestar Galactica miniseries numbers.

The Muppets got off to a huge start last night, while, in a surprising development, at least for me, Scream Queens underwhelmed, being watched by less than 5 million viewers. Given the rampant promotion it's recieved, I'm shocked the numbers for it are so low.

With it's 13 episode season 1 order getting cut down to just 10 episodes, it looks like Minority Report will be the first official canceled freshman of this tv season. The Player on NBC is likely to follow it.

And the first sitcom given a full-season order is...Dr. Ken?!!?

As I remarked on one TV thread this week, we've gone a long time into the fall season without a cancellation yet. In fact, according to Franko, the first cancellation of the fall season last year wasn't until the 24th, and we've passed that. Very unusual for the networks and certainly not a tactic that they've used for a couple decades, at least.

I suspect that the networks are more patient this year because there haven't been any out-and-out disasters. Fox doesn't want to pay for any more Minority Reports and ABC is washing all that Blood & Oil off their hands, but the ratings aren't that terrible, so its more cost efficient to just let the shows play out their runs than to throw something up that might not get any better ratings while be stuck with a bunch of unaired episodes they've already paid for. With the critically lambasted Truth Be Told scoring awful debut ratings last week, that could change, but otherwise, no new show has tanked so hard that it needs to be gone now.
